automatic transmission HELP!!

automatic transmission HELP!!
automatic civic transmission went out
bought a new tranny
installed it
connected all harness
COMPLETED the tranny Swap
went for a test drive on regular gear (D4 )and wont pass 3k rpm
you can press on the gas...as much but wont pass the 3k mark
so then decided to drive it in gear 3 (D3)
car drove fine.... 3k, 4k,..... n good
NOW being that i cannot drive it on D3 forever
decided to test out my D4 after driving in D3
so drove around a bit took it at a decent speed "4kish RPM" and from D3
push it to D4 and from 4k it just skyrocket to redline passing 7k
so slowed down......
took the car home and now im thinking this tranny is also bad?
any suggestions on what it could be ?
or is this tranny also toasted
