D15B 1997 running rich!
I Recently dropped a 1997 jdm d15b vtec into my 97 ek. I am using the p2j 003 ecu. I have been working on this car for about 1 month and been trying to figure out the problem why its running too rich but i have had no luck.
I currently replaced the o2 sensor because it was giving me a o2A cel. I am using a 4 wire o2 sensor from a stock 97 ek hatch. But no luck and gave me the same code. Am i suppose to use a single wire o2 sensor?
Other suggestions that were given to me were
1. Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
2. Map sensor
3. Chipping the ecu
If need more info feel free to ask!

Re: D15B 1997 running rich!
It came with a 1 wire but the guy that put my engine in switched it to a 4 wire o2 sensor now its running rich and he cant find the single wire o2 sensor :\. Ive been reading around saying that its fine to use a 4 wire but i think with a different ecu not the p2j. I am really trying to figure this out because this is my senior project and this is the last problem i have to solve and its driving me crazy...
if i need a 1 wire what do i need to say at auto department store to get the right o2 sensor because i dont want another 75 dollars down the drain again.
arent 5 wire and 7 wire widebands expensive?
Any help?

i went to the store today and the bosch 92-95 oe is 188 dollars... and the universal one is 16 bucks. if i bought the universal one would i just have cut the white wire on my old 4 wire sensor and splice it onto that and take out the others?

I bought a bosch universal sensor because thats the only one they had in stock at orileys. I just installed it and it sounds like it runs a lot better. But now when my car heats up to normal temperature it starts idling low...
Here are some pictures of the o2 i just installed could you see if i did it right? i dont want to crimp it yet till i know its the right wire.
ecu
plug in
4 wire to 1 wire
"same"
sorry if the images are blurry.

Yes, your check engine light will stay on until your obdII system completes the specified drive cycle and runs the on board testing. Unless you clear the code by pulling of your negative battery cable. Also, you could be running rich because of high fuel pressure. Check that!!! Think about it. If your pressure is to high, and the injector, more fuel than wanted is going to force its way out! Your o2 sensor is fine if you replaced it. And the 1 wire does the SAME exact thing as the 4. The 1 is just not heated. It goes straight to the ecu. It is not your o2 sensor.
