Default is this an alternator problem?

i just noticed a few days ago my car started cranking really slow. my dash lights are very dim and my windows roll up and down at a slow pace (when the car is running). i had replaced my battery and alternator a few months back, could it be a bad alternator? any help is appreciated

I would start by checking the main ground from the battery...see if theres any corrosion/moisture/loose bolt going on there. if it checks out, check battery terminals, then load test the battery, THEN if all that checks out, go ahead and have the alternator tested. but yeah, if things are that dim/slow when running...get that alt checked anyway, sounds like the charging system is weak.

It could also be the belt.

Use a voltmeter and test the alternator and battery. First, do a read across the terminals with the car off. Second, do a read across the terminals with the car on. What are those two numbers?

Time to clean and sand all of your ground wires. Take all 3 of them off, sand down the terminals, replace the 10 mm bolts (or at least sand them down), and sand down the areas on the chassis where the grounds rest. Works wonders on a 21 year old electrical system.

We are looking for roughly 12.0 to 12.2 volts when off, and 14.0 to 14.4 volts when running.
