I am guessing that it has a knock sensor just not sure. its an ls/vtec so if a 94 ls has a knock sensor, or is the knock sensor in the head. if that is the case then its a b16 and I am pretty sure that does have a knock sensor.

found some info on the iacv and knock sensor. not really sure that I want to spend 130 to try and see if the knock sensor is the issue. any way to by pass the knock sensor without geting a chipped ecu? I am hoping that the cleaning of the iacv, fitv, and tb will do the trick for that code. thanks for the info.

hey ronj I think that you were right. again this is my friends car, but its an ls/vtec. b16 head with a b18a1 bottom end. So I was looking at different manuals and I am pretty sure that the b18c is the only b18 motor with a knock sensor. please correct me if I am wrong, so now I am left with the problem of lack of options to fix this issue. the car is in atlanta and we are trying to sell it, just cant get it to pass emissions with a cel on.

I'm in the Atlanta area. I've got a helms for the electrical part if you need help. Hit me up if you need an extra hand.
The GSR and ITR were the only B18 blocks with a vtec sensor. The sensor is in the block just below the IM.
There is a way to by-pass it I believe. It's a thread that was created years ago on this site. I'm sure the search button will guide you.

well another thing with this is that I am not sure that the hole was tapped for a knock sensor. so as of right now I am thinking that it does not have one at all. it was turbo, but now its not and we just want it to run with no cels. I am back on Wednesday and I will check for a knock sensor then. if it has one we will replace it, but if not we are going to do this trick and hope it works.

alright just found out that the car does have a knock sensor drilled in. have not looked to see where the wire goes or if the wire is bad. but I was wondering if there were any other knock sensors that will work in this car. thanks a ton

p0141
p1399
p1298
alright with that being said just got back from auto zone
and the only thing that is wrong now is
p0117
it says ect sensor 1 circuit low voltage probable cause
1- open or short circuit condition
2- poor electrical connection
3- faulty iat sensor
at first he said they didnt have the part, but then said they had a duralast coolant temp sensor. its 22.99. what do you guys think.
bad news
spedo is still jumping all around. it seems almost like it wants to be at the right speed but jumps all around. then when stopped it goes nuts. thanks for any help.
