lose the.... power steering, a/c, cruise, bumper supports, knee bolster bar, sound deadening tar, gut all the interior, light weight rims, cf hood, cf trunk, cf moonroof, etc.... I have done all but the cf and my 93 coupe weighed in at 2030 pounds even, 2110 lbs. with most interior, and 16's

Those bumper supports are there for a reason..... I hope you don't get in an accident. The cf moonroof? Wow, smart idea. Questioning the structural integrity of your car. The power steering, a/c, and cruise control are all about 40 lbs. The cruise control isn't even 2 lbs. The knee bolster bar also serves a purpose. Other than that those are good ideas. The sound deading tar is a complete waste IMO. It takes forever to get out and weighs like 5lbs.

Your best bet, buy a DX hatchback.

He asked how to save weight, and thats what you can do. 5 pounds is 5 pounds.

PS and AC components usually are 30 lbs a piece, but that varies on different makes and models. My old Escorts AC components were 37 lbs total.

By CF moonroof he means take out the moon roof itself, all the bars, tracks and the motor, switches, everything and stick a piece of carbon fiber in the hole. You repleace all that, which is probably about 50-100 lbs with a 10 lb piece of CF.

I don't see how taking out the moonroof questions the structural stability of a unibody car... it'd be no weaker than having the moon roof in there anyway, seeing how the glass isn't a piece of the structure in the first place.

First off... obviously the bumper supports are there for a reason, otherwise they wouldn't be there in the first place, and same goes for the knee bolster bar. and the only CF moonroof I've seen was made by H-T member Doctor Cortez, saves something like 40 pounds alone, and doesn't compromise any chassis stiffness, from what I understand.

And if you think the ps, a/c, and cc only weigh 40 pounds all together, then you've obviously never have handled these components... the a/c compressor alone weighs 19 pounds ( I shipped one once.) And for all the tar in my 93 Ex coupe the bag full of it weighed about 12-13ish pounds (I removed it like 2+ years ago.) And in newer coupes there is a shitload more of it. And why buy a DX hatch, when you can have a CX with VX rims and be even lighter?

No where did I say that these weight reduction ideas were safe for a daily driven street car. (which mine is, and I never think twice about it.) So hopefully you're somewhat enlightened.

for every 200lbs. you lose, you lose .01 off your time slip....so if you are really concerned with major reduction of weight do some of the mentioned....NOT THE BUMPER SUPPORTS though(totally stupid) but whatever floats your boat. drive with half empty gas tank, gutted interior, take a ****/**** before going out each time and go on the atkins diet I don't know why people are so concerned about all this weight bullshit, personally I would rather have all my interior in and run .01 or .02 slower in the 1320 than for my car to look like **** inside. Just my .02 cents though.
