99 civic si won't start...
hey guys. i have a 99 civic si/ex (canadian model) 5spd that won't start. i bought it used and not running to begin with and i found that the thermostat ground was loose, tightened it up and now the car will crank over but will not start or has a hard time starting. these are the following things i have checked and replaced...
ecu
map sensor
main relay
compression checked 170psi all cylinders
ignition checked and spark is good
fuel pressure checked
what could be the problem?? i've tried holding my foot to the gas pedal and pumping it...almost wants to start but doesn't. i checked the plugs and they are wet with fuel, so probably my injectors are good. no CEL. maybe bad gas, bad fuel filter?? or bad crank sensor?

update: replaced fuel pressure regulator, injectors and fuel filter no change. the only way i get the engine to turn over is if i hold the gas pedal to the floor because the engine was flooded.

if you have fuel -spark - and good compession it's got to be timing - you should never need to pump the gas in a fuel injected engine holding it to the floor puts it it clear flood mode and stops fireing the injectors pull the top cover off and check the t-belt also look at the rotor inside the dizzy i have seen them melt and spin on the shaft (bad dizzy bearing) and the spark plug wire;s are on right

update: runs of quick start fluid, while i disconnected the injectors, maybe bad gas as it floods the engine...

i've swapped different ECU no luck. i've also bolted the ecu down to the body, no change. can a bad headgasket be the culprit even though i have good compression??

i've had 3 different sets of plugs one of the set being brand new...
i think it could be a bad fuel pump not providing enough fuel pressure causing the injectors to not atomize and spray correctly.
