Default 99 Civic SI (94 GSR Swap)Help

My Friend just put his 94 Gsr engine in his 99 civic and when the motor turns on it idles really rough (turns off at idle also). He's check engine light is on and gives the code for the crank position sensor. We noticed that his B16 had a crank position sensor and his Gsr does not. Just need help on knowing if the crank position sensor is the main cause for the engine not idling normally and also turning off. Also if it is possible to put the B16 crank position sensor to the B18 and how?

One more question anyone know if I have to use the quick splicers(Scotch-lock/tap splicers) or is there another way of doing it

Cut and splice, use solder and shrink tubing. Probably the best way to do it really, scotch-locks suck more than you can possibly imagine.
