99 civic ex no start problem
My friend has a 99 civic ex that will not start. He took it to a small time mechanic. and he said that the fuel pressure is at around 90 psi while trying to start. Normaly it should be in the 30 psi range. This is all he could find and recomended takin it to a dealer to get it looked at cause he didnt want to dig any further.
I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what this could be or have had this problem before?
If you need more info let me know, otherwise any input is appreciated.

I'd wonder whether the mechanic made an incorrect fuel pressure reading.
Key questions to consider:
Is the CEL ON? Does the fuel pump prime? Is there spark at the plugs? Did the timing belt slip? Is the cylinder compression low?

Re: 99 civic ex no start problem
yeah i can't think of anything that would cause the fuel pressure to nearly triple.
It has spark but we couldnt check for codes.
It was running fine and then one day it just wouldnt start.

Didnt have a scan tool. and also i would assume the mechanic would of been able to check for codes and would have mentioned what they were. but i don't have all the details i only looked over it briefly.
Just trying to get some ideas to help my buddy out.
Thanks for the replies though

Re: 99 civic ex no start problem
Yes it does have spark. the mechanic said the fuel pressure is so high that its just flooding the engine out when its trying to start. I wanted to know if anyone might have an idea why the fuel pressure would rise so high. If the vacuum lines had a leak wouldn't this cause fuel pressure to drop. I wonder if a vacuum line that was plugged or pinched would cause it to raise higher?

does it turn off when you put it in the run position, you can heare it, if its on all the time that could happen or your fuel regulator could be stuck closed
