99 Civic Ex MT with new Viper 5901 and problems with Hazard lights
Hello. So I am new to the forum so please forgive me if I breach etiquette. I just finished installing a Viper 5901 to hopefully prevent my car stereo from being stolen again. (yes people still steal stereos, even run of the mill 200 dollar stereos)
The alarm is working and reading all of the triggers just fine. I am having this one weird issue.
With my factory keyless entry the hazard lights flash when I lock or unlock the doors using the remote. With the 5901's keyless entry the siren chirps but the hazards do not flash.
The alarm has an output for "parking light" which doesn't do anything with my car.
Any ideas what the factory keyless entry is doing to cause the hazards to blink? Maybe there is some way to make the 5901's keyless entry do the same thing?
I know it isn't a big deal but it bugs me when I don't know why something is or isn't working.

The Red/Blk wire from the stock power locks control unit runs to the parking lights circuit to cause them to flash.

heres your problem.... i bet you didnt put the fuse jumper in the brain before you mounted it in. its dead center and you have to take the cover case off to get it.

You were right it was the fuse. Thanks for the help.
On another topic related to the install but not related to the parking lights.... what would you folks recommend I use to connect the heavy 10 gauge wires?
Right now I only have the ignition wire connected and I just stripped back some insulation, parted the strand on the existing wire about half way, ran the new wire from the alarm brain between the part and twisted then wrapped with electrical tape.
Should I use heat shrink and solder? Do you think it is dangerous the way I have it now?
