98 civic ex motor and tranny swap problems
Hello i am new here and have been having some problems with my car that im sure someone here can help me fix (at least i hope so)
My 1998 honda civic ex 1.6L sohc d16y8 vtec was recently switched to the b20b non vtec and the LS 5 speed tranny
it had the auto to manual conversion and when i first got my car it was fine...on the dash the park light "P" always stayed lit and the "D4" flashed...i could always pull my key out with no probem. Then one day when i was installing a new head unit, i unhooked the ground on my battery and completely forgot about my new capacitor and that held a charge. When i hooked up the wiring harness i slid the head unit into the dash and when the REM wire hit metal it created a spark and ever since then the park light "P" went out. Now whenever i stop my car i have to unhook the battery and then pull my key out. Can anyone help me fix this problem?
Also my car redlines at 5k rpms now...would that be because i am still running the old sohc obd2 ecu?
Also when i put my car into reverse...the reverse lights dont come on...can anyone help describe how to wire this up? i know i saw this somewhere else so i can just search for it but if anyone can help with the first two things that would be GREAT!

sounds like you fired something.
check fuese under hood and under dash.
also get a ls ecu, running a dohc motor on a sohc easy is not good

there is a little blue box under you column, find it and rip it out, then get a non auto cluster.
why it redlines a 5k i have no idea, im guessing just put the new ecu in and see if that fixes it....
check if the revrese light wire is pluged in on the tranny then check the bulbs.
oh just cuase they look good doesnt mean they are, test the fueses with a multi meter to be sure

oh of course...i always check my fuses with a multi meter...not only is it more accurate but its a billion times easier then pulling the fuses out one by one and checking them all
that blue bow under my steering column that im supposed to rip out and replace...what do u mean by a non auto cluster? where could i find this non auto cluster lol
