97 civic ex high beams not working
i took my new to me 97 ex through a car wash last night, on my way home i went to use the high beams, and they turned a real bright purple and went off. the fuses are good and i have not found the relays yet. i have not checkout the bulbs either, but i don't think they would both burn out at the same time. the low beams still work fine.

if the bulbs were damaged, both hi and low beams wouldnt work.
also both sides typically dont go out together if it was a problem with the bulb
its probably raining in indiana though, cause i;m next door in chicago and its pouring down
but the most important thing other than the bulbs is checking if you have voltage at the the connector

Re: 97 civic ex high beams not working
im going to in a few
thanks i will look into this any one know where the relays are for the head lights? im going to check the voltage befor the relay also.
i have seen that to, but i dont see why they would both do that at the same time.
thanks all i will check them out later and any one know where the relay is for the high beams just so i can rule them out

Yes, really.
My question is what method did you use to check the two high beam fuses. The most reliable way is to test for voltage to body ground from both top test tabs of each installed fuse with the light switch on. Click the Fuses link in my signature.

Re: 97 civic ex high beams not working
the fuses i use are clear and you can see if the are blown or not?
it turned out that the light bulb filament for the high beams burnt out so i will be replacing them later. i have never seen both high beams on a car burn out at the same time before.

Visual inspection of fuses can be unreliable and also does not tell you whether the fuse gets voltage from the battery. But I'm glad to hear that you solved the problem.
