Default '97 Civic Dx OBD-1 Vtec Wiring/Cel Issue's

My girlfriend just bought a '97 civic dx w/d16y8 that has been converted from 0bd2-0bd1 running a P28 ecu....

The guy we picked it up from said that the vtec wasn't wired yet, I tried searching the archives but didn't have any luck getting a straight answer. I know that the vtec pressure switch needs to be hooked up along with the knock sensor but I do not know which pin's they go to.

My second problem is that the car is throwing a cel, the guy we purchased it from told me that it was a code 20, how do i go about checking the cel since it's now 0bd1? I know the code 20 is the electronic load detector, but what does this mean?

Please someone help me out, Im trying to get this car up and running right so my girl can daily drive it.

I had the same problem in a teg and i replaced both alternator and main fuse box, and it solved the problem. Change out the alternator first with a known working one from another car if you can. For checking CEL, if you could get a y8 ecu and just take out the jumper harness, and plug it back to the oem stock plugs, you can then do a CEL.

Does it have the jumper wire? i'm pretty sure they still have it so wouldn't that just give you the CEL blink? since its OBD1 and all the only way i could think of.

I don't think a bad alternator would throw code 20, although a bad alternator could be a separate problem. Is the battery light staying on or flickering?
