Default 96 Honda Civic Window Problems

Okay so on my 96 Honda Civic Coupe, the passenger window will not work, meaning will not go and up down

First thing I predicted was the window regulator was bad, so I ordered one just in case. Well after I put it on, window still didn't work

I checked both fuses & relays (under the dash & under the hood)
Borh were good.

So i ran a wire from the battery straight to the regulator connector, to test it and that worked, it made it go up and down. (Because when I put the window regulator back in, window was half way down so I needed it to go back up)

So I'm still trying to figure out why the window switch won't work.

Does it not work regardless of which switch you use? Do you own a voltmeter? Have you checked to make sure the lock isn't on?

I agree you need to check the wiring into the door and into the motor and switch. On mine it was over time, opening/closing the door, the wiring frayed and that caused no connection to the power window motor. Running new wiring fixed it. It was the ground wiring to the motor that was bad in my case. I made sure to add more wiring for less stress on the wiring in the future.

If the problem still exists if the wiring is sorted. You also want to get the switch itself checked out as it gets worn out over the years and the connectors inside dont make contact with each other. If the switch can plug out, test the window with another working window switch.

Check for broken wires in the door jamb connectors.

yup it takes time to trace the wiring and find the wire that is the problem. use the above wiring diagram, it will tell you the color of the power and ground of the wiring to the window's motor.. then look through for that wire. It's tedious but that's electrical work for you..

Time and patience, if anything i would look into remove the entire door harness from the door so that its easier to inspect.

Matthew98DX why not just test the wires with a multimeter.

1.Do a test from your master swith connector to the fusebox and
2.From the passenger switch connector to the fusebox.

Or just run a new wire from the fusebox or master switch like oneheadlight did.

I uploaded a few images I hope it can help you out.I think you already have 2 or 3 of them, I'm guessing you do have your manuel.

Let us know what was wrong when you get it sorted.

..."So small"? It's the size of a piece of paper. It's not even remotely small.

NotARaCist I think what he means by small is that the resolution of those images are big making the layout very small.
Think of it like printing an size A2 image on a A4 paper. If he can save the image he will be able to zoom in on it though.

I'm checking the forums on my iPhone

I found the problem I think...

I checked the connector in the door jam, and one of the wires was out of the connector

it's blue wire with orange stripe in it

Thank you for including the picture where it shows which wire goes where on the connector.
