no, there are more complications

you'd have to use the 96 ecu, harness

well thats not step by step so...

There are more complications... You'll need engine lift.

i understand im gonna have to use the ecu and engine harness from the 96 into a 95...

but WILL the 95 MANUAL transmission bolt up to the 96 ENGINE... BOLT STRAIGHT UP>>?

because the 96 motor i wanna use currently has a AUTO trans on it...

even though both motors look different? or maybe is it just the valve cover thats different?

Plug n play through a lot of motors with little modification... I'm going through the research now because the guy that had my hatch before used a integra cabin/car harness for the b18 when he needed NOT to.

Yes. The valve cover, better yet, the intake manifold are what look different but they are swappable.

you cant be serious? i hope youre not....

anywho to the OP: best bet would be to pull out both engines. remove both transmissions replace clutch while youre at it, take the intake manifold from your old motor and bolt it to your new motor. the entire manifold will bolt right up. use your old alternator as well. now for the distributor just save yourself the headache and wiring mess and order a jumper harness for the distributor which will allow you to run the 96 distributor with the 95 wiring harness no problems no cutting no splicing no swapping plugs on the distributor. just plug n play. im sure i left out a few details , perhaps somebody else can clean up my mess of words...

take both motors out, leave wireharness connected to motors, unplug by firewall.

Unbolt both trannys.

Take off clutches and flywheels

Put manual flywheel and clutch assembly on good motor.

put man tranny on good motor.

change distributor from old motor to new motor

drop in car.

plug in wire harness.

change oil, add coolant.

drive away.

take both motors out

swap the trannys

then swap intakes

then swap dizzys

then everything will plug in and you wont have any wiring problems

problem sloved

ok so from my understandings from reading all of the posts...

1.easiest way is to set both motors side by side.
2.disconnect both transmissions from motors
3.put on my 95 manual tranny and bolt it up to my 96 motor
4.LEAVE the harness alone on the good motor and putin the motor then connect it to the firewall area and connect to the 96 ecu

other things to replace when swapping is to put on my 95 manifold to the 96 because its swappable> do i have to swap it or leaving it alone is fine?

distributor is cause timing problems if messed with, best way is to buy a obd1 to obd2 jumper harness> plug n play

those are the only things im going to mostly run into and what i should do> correct fellas?

if you swap the intake and dizzy to the other motor you wont have to buy a jumper for the dizzy or a jumper for the ecu cuz a 96 ecu wont clip up to a 95 so you will have to buy a jumper for that and its like 80 to 100 dollars just for that so i would use the stock ecu and just swap those things

so for my understandings your saying when i put in the new motor...

replace the 96 dizzy with the 95 dizzy
replace the 96 intake manifold with the 95 intake manifold

then leave in the stock 95 ecu into the car with the 96 motor and plug and play everything

then the only thing i will have to worry about is Timing? if i replace the dizzys?

Nobody with any kind of knowledge brought up using an ecu jumper harness. YOU WILL NEES TO RE-USE THE ORIGINAL 95 ENGINE HARNESS. 95 alternator 95 complete intake manifold 95 flywheel 95 Tranny. Rywire and I'm sure others sell the distributor jumper harness for Under 50 bucks.

ok with EVERY one saying different scenarios im getting confused...

this is what i understand man... you gotta be very patient and to explain to me bit by bit...

1. take off the manual tranny from 95
2. take off the auto tranny from 96
3. put on the manual 95 tranny to 96 motor
4. put in the motor to the 95 civic
5. just connect the stock 96 engine harness into the 96 ecu that i will put in car.
6. buy a jumper harness for obd1 to obd2 for the dizzy and plug it in.
7. change INTAKE MANIFOLDS!!! the 95 onto the 96

last of all

8. start it up and enjoy?

ok here it goes...

i bought this car and when picked it up at an auction it didnt start took it home

payed $550 for it (GOOD DEAL)

SYMPTOM: NO FUEL AND NO SPARK!

so i thought lets start with fuel, i changed out the fuel pump with a new one for $140

im now at $690 into the car...

so i didnt know what to do so i got it towed $100 to HONDA DEALER!

car sat there for 4weeks...

they told me its the ECU is bad, so i bought a new one for $75

took it back to them

1 week later they say that ECU is not good, and i plugged in both ECUS that i was stuck with in another car and both worked!

final result

honda techs say in EXACT words "honestly we did everything we could but to tell you the truth your car is a piece of **** and you should just junk it because we cant get it started as well"

keep in mind i had to pay $596 in Diagnostic fees that didnt get me NO where!!! thats even after complaining to the GM of Honda Dealer!

now im at $1,461 into the car!

i brought it home... then i tried to sell it for the next 2months back at the auction and i wasnt able to get more then $250 for it... so i had to pay them $375 for advertising fee..

now $1836

i gave up on the car completely for the past 9months

and now im finally thinking its either got to do with timing or ignition switch or dizzy it self...

i already change 3 Main Relays!

AT THIS point i have about $2000 in to piece of TURD!

i dont want the car to go to waste, so i have the 96 motor i would like to ATTEMPT to put in and maybe just maybe it will fire right up and i might have a $2000 nice daily driver...

it started with $550 nice price then just went down the drain into a big nightmare...

So does it have fuel and spark now? What are the compression numbers?

as of right now car has been sitting for past 9months and collecting dirt/grass etc..

i never got it to start or get fuel or spark...

maybe motor is good maybe not...

to pass all the bull crap, i want to thru the 96 motor i have into it becuz i know that runs with all parts good on it...

after i put that in and if it still doesnt start...

-its gotta be ignition switch becuz i heard ignition can mess with the fuel and spark deal.
-a short in a wire somewhere from the front all the way to the back of the car... and gotta gut the car down to find it...

if still doesnt work

-idk sell the car as is part out or sell the shell... idk

Seems like a waste of time really, why not figure out the exact problem. Instead of just throwing random parts at the car but thats just my opinion.

yeah how about you actually diagnose the engine and the car propperly you did not think before you spent money you could of spent 1200 on a B series swap and done it yourself but i guess its ur money good luck

Ok here's te final list of what to do:

1. Swap over intake and exhaust manifolds over from the old engine to the new. If you reuse the new exhaust manifold you'll ave two catalytics.

2. Swap over and reuse your distributor and alternator. The distributor will bolt right up and run fine and you wont need a dist adapter.

3. Manual flywheel and clutch kit.

4. Use your old ecu DO NOT USE THE NEW ECU. it'll be a pain for the extra wiring plus it's an auto ecu. The old ecu will run it fine.

5. Reuse your engine harness don't use the obd2 harness.
