Re: (tha_badguy)
get the wiring diagram and pull the radio out. There is an ignition power and a constant power. You probably only have the ignition one hooked up

Yes, but fuses would only make them not work.....right? I dont think a fuse would make something malfunction, you know? I did check them though, and they are all good...
Thanks

well if you had a bad fuse on a "memory" wire it would loose all it's settings when it's turned off.

Before you pull your radio out, go and pop the hood of your car. Open up the fuse box (passenger side of the car, by the battery) and check the "backup" fuse. It's possible it might be blown.

AFAIK, the clock has a capacitor or something in it. I bet its very dim while idling, and almost doesn't light up when you press it w/ign off. I bought a coupe with the whole radio/lighter/clock circuit FUBAR'd, does the same thing. I'd had other pressing issues with the car, so I don't know exactly what it is. For whatever reason though, both out cars aren't supplying the constant 12v though that circuit.

okay here is your problem. No he does not have a blown fuse because if he did his radio would not turn on. The radio has a constant (yellow) that is always powered to hold memory/settings and a ignition (red) to turn radio on when ignition is on the ON position. In order for the radio to turn on BOTH yellow and red have to be powered. So either of two things:
1) both yellow and red are wired to ignition or together on same ignition power source, causing it to turn on when ignition on BUT lose memory when reset since there is no constant power.
2) yellow is wired to ignition (which should be constant) and red is wired to constant (which should be ignition)causing it to provide 12V when ignition on but again losing both power source when ignition off. This will also cause your radio to intermit when playing full power. (since ignition source is low amperage)

Fixed. Constant was not hooked up at all....it was only hooked up to 12v ignition. Still dont know about the clock though...

I was thinking the same thing since my radio also didn't turn on when the backup fuse was blown. When I replaced that fuse the radio AND THE CLOCK started working. I figured it wouldn't hurt to have him check the backup fuse since the clock is still not working.
If the fuse is not blown but the clock is still not working, can't the clock be wired to the radio's constant wire?

you dont know what your talking about.
check the back up fuse. its responsible for supplying a small amount of current to the radio for the use of saving settings. if it is blown there will be no memory.

tell me how much experience you have in car electronics. particular in audio/video security. Watch out what you say before you open your mouth.

I am not here to critique your ability in car electronics, wiring, ect. However judging by your incorrect response "its impossible its a fuse....blah blah blah....the radio wouldnt work at all...blah blah blah....", it would appear you DONT know what you are talking about in this particular situation. However it is quite possible you are a very good car audio/electronics guy so dont take my comment as me discrediting your ability because that wasnt my intent.
by they way I didnt "open my mouth", i used my fingers!

as a experiment. go under your hood and pull your back up fuse. you will notice that your radio will NOT turn on.
Its been 2 years since I worked in a shop as a installer but Im pretty sure im correct on that. I worked in avionics now so thats my new expertise.

That is incorrect. because my radio worked fine, but my clock just would not remember the time. the back-up fuse was blown the whole time...

hmmm that's odd cause when my back up fuse blew in my EJ1 the radio didn't work and the clock was dim and couldn't hold time. It was an aftermarket CD player too. It also caused my SRS light to come on too.
