Icon3 94 Civic EX Coupe Blown Engine

My Civic had a blown head gasket, which resulted in oil leaking into the radiator causing the engine to overheat. Now it smokes terribly when started and has basically no power, as well as making a clanking noise when slightly revved. I have found a rebuild kit including-Full Overhaul Gasket Set,
Pistons and Piston Rings, Main Bearings, Rod Bearings, Thrust Washers, Timing Belt, Timing Belt Tensioner, and Oil Pump costing $422.48.

My question is should I rebuild the D16Z6 or purchase another engine prefferably the stock 1.6 liter engine, and if I should purchase another engine, where can I find the D16Z6 online. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Where can I get the B16A2 (2nd gen. B16A) and will the D16Z6 tranny fit with the engine?

If money is no worrys (and you have time) Do a swap, but the d16 is so simple to just tear down the and rebuild, It took me about 6 hours the first time I did a top end rebuild.

I agree! MY d16z6 was stronger and seemed to hold high rpms well. but my d15b block hasn't gave any problems but I have a feeling if i keep reving it as high as i am it will blow. I'm been going easy on it lately and keeping the oil full and fresh so i dont think ill have problems.

I had a d15b7 and it was brand new everything from oil pan to valve cover clean is hell and after 5000 miles it blew a head gasket and over headed. and i changed the head gasket and it started knocking i got pissed and red lined it for about 2 seconds when the rod flew out and i still kept flooring it it wouldn't go past 4200rpm and had oil everywhere. i was pissed off. i had just put it in.
