93 Honda Civic DX burning oil. where do i look fist?
my civic is burning oil and i need to know where to diagnose. i have a stock D15b7 and a lot of white smoke is coming out of the muffler, especially at higher RPM. I need a step-by-step where to look first, second, third and on.
P.S the motor also have a oil leak on the head gasket, right on top of the "D15B7" logo on engine block, where the head and block meet. this may be the issue but im not sure. Please help. Thanks

Blue= oil
White= coolant
Black= excessive gas
So I remember...
If you're burning white smoke I recommend doing a coolant pressure test and see if you have coolant escaping thru the head gasket into the combustion chamber/ piston area/ oil pan. Usually u can check your oil dipstick to verify if coolant is mixed with your oil by a certain "milky" color. If It is u can suspect a leaking head gasket.
If you are burning blue smoke, suspect leaking valve stem seals, piston rings, leaking alive cover gasket/ grommet.
Hope that helps. Feel free to update us whether it's blue or white or black smoke or purple.

If it's purple smoke, I think our first recommendation is going to be to go clean for a week before even trying to look at your car.
Do a leakdown test. That'll help diagnose things.

I was just exaggerating about the purple smoke though. Lol. A trick used in finding small exhaust leaks.
