93 Del Sol - wont' crank or start
I'm asking, needing, wishing for sage advice concerning my '93 del sol automatic. Ran fine parked in garage next morning would crank but not start. Later in day tried to start it and it would not even crank. thought maybe I ran down the battery so jumped it from another vehicle still no crank. thought maybe I burned up the starter from earlier cranking jumped the starter from the battery and it cranked noticed also the power windows and wipers don't work. Have checked all fuses under dash and under hood all seem fine. A friend said possibly a main relay, bought and replaced OEM main relay did not help. Any ideal where to start?

Re: Del Sol electrical woes
with key on I ran a jumper from the positive batt terminal to the spade connector on the starter and it fired right up. Now don't know if it's the ignition switch or starter selinoid. what is a quick way to determine which it is?

Re: Del Sol electrical woes
1) Have the battery tested. Charge or replace as needed.
2) Clean the battery terminals and posts, as well as the battery ground wire attached to the chassis.
3) Clean/tighten the G3 ground that runs from the transmission to the chassis.
4) Test the ignition switch (see FAQs sticky).

Re: 93 Del Sol - wont' crank or start
With the key turned on have someone tap the starter with a broom handle.
It might give you a hint that the solenoid is a problem.
Also clean the battery wire connection to the starter. (thick wire)
I have the same car (auto) and had to replace the starter (failed bench test - too much drag)
And later on with another fail to start problem I had to replace the ECU (P 28-A51) (moisture damage) killed the starting circuit.
