93 del sol - pool of oil in cylinder 4 and 1
I just bought a del sol w/ a stock b16 motor. Surprisingly the car starts. I pulled out the spark plug wires and found a pool of oil in cylinder 4 and a little in 1. I think the headgaskets done for, the cylinders probably need to be replaced. My buddy told me something about the valves needs to be adjusted? i dont know.
But yes, i want to do a full rebuild on the motor. with stock internals. Anyone have suggestions?
This will be my secondary car. Maybe just go to work at back. would like to get some suspension mods if you guy point me int he right direction.

Chuck those Ebay coilovers and start there. Check the suspension forum for preferred setups. Tops among most is Koni/GC.

Re: Just bought a 93 del sol
Those Vtec models are hard to find, Ive had about 5 Del sol's so far and yes the 93-94 will leak right on your knee when it rains. As for your suspension question you can get ground control coilovers with Koni str.t shocks for about $530 with shipping if you shop around. I also recommend you buy the ebay one piece headlights (i prefer the black housing with amber corner) and a lip (mugen replica is nice). That with a nice set of rims and hid's you have a pretty decent looking and inexpensive del sol. But that's just MY personal opinion. Either way, welcome to the Del Sol club!

Either he is wrong about the year or it was swapped.

Re: 93 del sol - pool of oil in cylinder 4 and 1
they all leak.
my 93 leaks, my 95 leaks, and the two other del sols i've seen leaked. 96 and a 94.
just replace the seals. even though its 400 some bucks.
to the questions. check your oil for coolant and coolant for oil.
use oem for the rebuild. majestic or local dealer.
the engine was swapped in. sway bar is the giveaway. a vtec model del sol came with one. either buy a new one or craigslist GSR/del sol ones.
after that for suspension hit up koni/gc. or use kyb AGX and some kind of springs. i like KYB its whats on my del sol but if i had known about koni/gc at the time i probably would have gotten those.

i thought about the VTEC model afer i posted, i believe the VTEC model started in 94 lol if its a VTEC it will have as said above a upper strut bar as well as rear discs, and lower front and rear sway bars... i have learned that if i clean the drains on the seals they wont leak as much or as bad
