92 Civic Si stock exhaust size?
hey guys! just a curious question...
does anybody know wat the stock size of an EG Si is? i've heard 1.75" and 2".
the one i have under my car LOOKS like a 2" but it's been banged up so badly i can't even tell... there are dents and rust holes all over the place. can anybody help me out?
and also, im planning to upgrade a new catback to either 2.25" or 2.5"
i've heard 2.25 has better gains for n/a and low-mid range and the 2.5 is better for turbo and high range.
mine is just a stock z6 with intake and header so im leaning towards the 2.25 unless somebody can convince me to go 2.5
and also, resonator or not? do u lose or gain any power from having one in or not? i know it will quiet down the exhaust but will that mean a loss of power as well? or maybe a gain?
some help would be appreciated!
thanks in advance guys!
cheers!

Re: 92 Civic Si stock exhaust size? (mister.wong)
The stock should be 2.25 at the cat going to 1.75 at the intermediate pipe then back out to 2.25 at the muffler (I think) it has been so long since I had stock on it I now run 2.25 all the way with a resonator. It makes a huge difference in the exhaust tone. With out a resonator the the tone was like a can of angry bumble bees

sweeeeet thanks a lot guys!
so if the stock exhaust is mostly 2.25 with the intermediate pipe being 1.75... can't i just replace the intermediate pipe with a 2.25 and keep the rest? instead of getting a whole new catback? or would a brand new catback give me more power overall? i dont really understand exhaust systems too much...
and also, wat type of muffler would u guys suggest? right now im running a ractive exhaust that came with the car... typical rice cannon...
crazyguy: itr muffler is straight bolt on for EG right?
my brother is encouraging me to get a 2.25 catback with an EK Sir muffler at the back...
any feedback about this set up?
thanks again !

Re: (mister.wong)
the biggest restriction on that motor imo is the oem exhaust manifold if you are still running it. Pull the heat shield off and look at the runners. The down pipe on it is 2.25".
