5 lug on ek.. need axles?
01 itr 5 lug (not sure if its usdm or jdm, does it matter?) went into my 2000 ek hatch. the axle nut has too much threading left thats not screwed in, about 1cm. i took the axles from a 99 civic si. do i need to buy new axles? if so what axles do i need? would i be looking for crv or integra axles? also, while searching for the answer for this i found someone claiming i could use an axle nut from a MAZDA 626, PROTEGE AXLE NUT 93-2002.. or am i trippin? this is where i saw it: https://honda-tech.com/forums/suspension-brakes-54/5-lug-conversion-using-4-lug-spindles-front-rear-1978033/. anyone help? thanks

Re: 5 lug on ek.. need axles?
USDM axles are 32mm and JDM axles are 36mm on the splines... You could have a JDM setup and need JDM axles or if u have USDM setup, any B series axles for ur car should work... I'm not 100% cuz i've never done it, but i've been around here a longgg time and read through about 90000 of these swaps and coulda swore all USDM setups use the same B series axles except the 98 spec JDM ITR with its 36mm... GL bro..

all usdm axles are the same there is no type-r or gsr axle but sounds to me like you have the jdm conversion search my name and you will find threads that will help you out cause i have the conversion myself and as far as axles go if you want oem go to hmotors but if you want cheap ones get on ebay.

Re: 5 lug on ek.. need axles?
I just talked to a few different shops. after explaining my situation to one shop they told me that the 32mm and 36mm is not referring to the length, but instead the diameter.. so now I'm even more confused. the problem that I can see, is that the axle nut is not screwing in far enough. there is 1cm of threadin left that needs to be tightened. the guy said if I get 36mm it won't fix that. so he said to check and make sure it's installed properly. I can't do it during the weekday but for sure on Saturday. until then, any speculations or second opinions is kindly appreciated. on another note, I ordered jdm spec itr axles from a shop, said they'd have it in yesterday.. went to get them today but they didn't have it.. I already paid for them too but they were telling me to count the teeth on the end of the axle.. I told them it's b series dohc axles from a 99 si. so basically I'm wondering what is the purpose? this is to measure the milimeters yea? like if it has a certain number of teeth than it's the 32mm and if it has more than it's the 36mm? please help, I'm a total noob. thanks in advance

Re: 5 lug on ek.. need axles?
oh yeah, this must be true then. so that means (correct me if I'm wrong), if the spine of my axle fits with no "shaft play" (idk the correct term sorry if I'm mis-using it) like it fits in the hole snug, then it must mean I have the usdm itr 5 lug. however, if it's loose, then it means I have usdm axles and jdm 5 lug? so the axle nut not screwing in all the way has nothing to do with my axles?? thanks

Re: 5 lug on ek.. need axles?
okay so here's an update on this thread just for anyone who runs into this problem. 01 usdm itr 5 lug is what I have, and 01 usdm itr axles is what you need to make this work apparently. I just picked some up so I'll let u guys know. they are 32mm axles and according to the parts shop, there IS a difference only in the 01 itr usdm. it's longer. so its not true that all usdm b series dohc axles are the same. i think. we'll see. any questions regarding this you can pm me

That is correct.
USDM Type R = 32mm
00-01 difference? That's new to me, but good information.
Now, JDM Type R 36mm hubs can use the 97-98 Prelude S (non-SH) axles. I have them on my EK. Pre-96 Prelude axles will NOT work because the inner CV joint is too big to fit the B-series transmission.
