Default 4000rpm Redline???

Man, I am really getting tired of the constant problems I've been having with my build. Please help.

Setup: High compression D16y8, chipped p28 tuned with crome, blah blah blah...

CEL: Code 19 - I'm only getting this because I have an auto ecu and a manual transmission. I don't know if other codes are being thrown. I will check tomorrow.

Symptoms: The car will not hold a steady idle on its own. I have to give it some gas, or it will die. The motor will not rev passed 4000rpm. It is still making power at 4000rpm, it's just being limited, as if redlining. From launch to 4000rpm, the car seems to be running fine, maybe not full power, but it gets me from A to B.

Diagnosis: Well, that's where you guys come in. My guess is a shot ecu. I tried my stock OBD2 ecu, and it too is running the car a bit funny, but at least it limits the revs to the factory redline. I don't know if that's just because the OBD2 ecu just hasn't hit limp mode yet or what...

What would through my ecu into limp mode? What exactly does that mean, and how do I fix it?

i would say switch out the auto ecu for a standard ecu since i wouldnt doubt that the ecu is throwing the codes it shuts it down at 4k rpm

yea its probably your ecu man. a bad tuning could cause a lor of problems. or your ecu could be crappy, and corroded on the inside. if it gets wet, then more problems can occur. or it could be the fact that u have an auto ecu. u could pay to get it tuned to a manual ecu by running a jumper from rp17 to rp18. i think so. i just get that checked, cuz thats most likely your issue. like the guy said, swap the ecu!

Yep, swap the ecu with a known good working unit (chipped or not) and see what happens.

Well, I ran the car with my stock ecu for a bit, and it ran fine. Then I tried plugging my chipped p28 back in, and it too operated normally. This isn't the first time the ecu has acted up on me. The problem usually goes away after I unplug the ecu then plug it back in (not sure if it matters whether or not I run the stock ecu between unplugging the p28 and plugging it back in).

Is it time for a new ecu, or is something going on with my car that's making my ecu act up?
