Than its concluded right? Better driving habits + maintenance on main engine components = mpg. Or..... Better driving habits + small boost setup(for efficiency ) = mad mpg gains.

Did you just remove it to de-clutter the engine bay then? Otherwise, it'd be like someone living in Las Vegas removing their windshield wipers because they never use them. Seems millions of times easier to just leave it there....even if its useless.

I never removed it, the previous owner did.

Sorry for the rebump, but I made a run south of the border and got myself some Techron, waited until empty and still got the previous mpg, poured that sucker into the tank and filled up with chevron 94, did it for two cycles and averaged 31mpg on both of the fill ups.
Can't believe it made that much of a difference.

Try replacing the coolant temp sensor. As they fail they tell the ECU the engine is always cold and you will run rich. I never got a cel light but my engine performance slowly deteriorated in my 93 del sol si OBD 1. It got to the point that the engine would not do a warm engine start. The ECU was dumping too much fuel when the engine was warm. Cold starts were no problem. I had replaced the igniter, coil, fuel filter, air filter, distributor cap, rotor and plugs, cleaned the IACV and swapped out the fuel pressure regulator. But it was the coolant temp sensor. A clue was the old plugs color were the color of a slight gray. I expected the tannish/white color. Now the engine performance is great, no slight stutter at the tipping point of pulling away from a traffic light or massive idle change when turning the AC on and off.I'm sure my mileage will be better.

Sounds like you're on the right track, getting all the regualr maintenance stuff done. Might be worth changing out the fuel filter too for good measure.
First and foremost, get that CEL sorted out. Chances are it's time for a new cat, but before you do, make sure you address the issue(s) that could be crappin up that cat. (If you end up needing a new cat, I have a new Magnaflow cat bolt on for your car I'll sell to you cheap! lol I'm in Van too)
Garage 5 has the bottles of Techron should you still want it. They're also the go-to Honda shop in the GVA, and can get the 'ol B16 runnin' right if need be. Good luck and keep us posted.
