2000 civic DX check engine light code
my check light is on is there anyway i can check the code out on my self....
also cant u just put a safty pin in sumwhere

A very common late 90's code, P1457 is a failure in one of the evap system solenoid valves. There are 2 culprits, the Vent Control Valve & the 2 Way Bypass Valve. They are located under the vehicle, roughly below the left rear seat area. They short out due to corrosion/contamination from water seeping into the valves. I changed both, but the real culprit seems to be the 2 Way bypass Valve.
