Post 1995 OBD1 Scan tools?

Hi im wondering that if there is any capabilities
to hook up a scan tool to 1995 civic OBD1.

Ive stopped by and asked this teacher at a college and he tells me that i couldn't hook up a scan tool idk what kind he has but probably didn't have the adapter?

He told me to just jump the wires and look for blinking codes. I did that, but i wanted to see also with a scan tool is it possible?

Can anyone tell me if there is a diagnostic connector to plug in the Scan tool,
is it the one near the glove compartment blue connector?

Im also looking for some cheap generic Scan tools for an OBD1 honda civic what
are some good ones if there are under 100 bucks.

If all you want to do is to pull CEL codes, then your teacher is right. Just jump the 2P service connector. Simple and elegant.

a scan tool for obd1...how about a paperclip. nothing from obd2 will work, i mean, you could convert the car to obd2 but that is more work than would ever make sense

There is NO scan tool for an OBD1 honda. Nothing you buy will work on a pre 96 honda. Either continue with the paper clip method, or spend the $15 and buy a DLC plug with a built in jumper wire if you wish to look fancy.

I forgot to mention, if you did buy a scan tool it would instruct you to jump the connector with a wire and punch in the code and it will give you the description. Since you can do that for free on Honda-Tech there is no point to buy any additional hardware.

What needs do you have that the paperclip will not accomplish?

Some people want some magic tool that tells them that their left front blinker fluid is low and to go to aisle 2 at AutoZone to pick some up. It's right next to the muffler bearing and VTEC grease. No,no,no lower left. up a little, over, over.. yup right there.

Trouble shooting is not a science.

for some odd reason, you can use right rear blinker fluid in the left front and not throw a code.

but back on topic...a paper clip will throw the cel into a loop and you simply count the flashes and look them up in your haynes manual or use google.

Is it a bunch of children on here? So many jokes, give the guy a answer and let that be the end of it....smh, 1st joke was funny, hahaha but after that its weak. yall dudes on here are too funny. Every answer has to have a side joke...

To the OP: if you search I just asked abouyt this maybe a week ago....not much out there, and if im correct (anyone feel free to correct me) you wouldnt be able to look up the monitors, sensors, etc even if you had a scan tool.
I have one I bought from the cornwell truck and it has some obd1 plugs li.e. for my 93 lexus gs300, but I cant check any monitors, sensors etc, I can only pull codes. So even if you did get an adapter, I dont think you would be able to look at much but the cel. Maybe thats the purpose of software like crome, hondata, etc. They allow that with some extra mods to your ecu obviously. GL

He did get an answer. Just not the one he wanted so he keeps asking until someone will tell him what he wants to hear. That's the joke.

An actual scan tool will give you a lot more data, freeze frame results, ability to check O2 sensor response etc that you just can't do otherwise. As far as I know though there's nothing available for OBD1 Hondas.

You gotta love the guy who thinks its the worlds purest joy to talk e-trash, man ol' boy was right, one joke haha! But damn...... Funny thing is for one lil bo-bo's jump on band wagons and look for acceptance by runnin their neck, " ha ha, did you see what i just posted? I said turn signal fluid! Tee hee!!!" it is not a matter of getfin the answers i want in life other wise there would be less o2 hogs like you. It is a matter of like dude said give a straight answer and be done with it, and if you dont know shut up no one wants your mouth openining mr. Honda all star. Truth of the matter if we were face to face you would be kissing my *** from here to the parts store, maybe washing my jock strap or laceing up my bag gloves smartass
