1993 Civic DX LS vtec won't start
Long story uggh.. Friday I started the car fine drove it fine no problem, no black, blue or white smoke.
then it over heats pull over at the gas station to fill up the tank. then I fill up the radiator with water
my lady calls me I get distracted and forget to put the radiator cap on. take off and notice I'm
smoking from the engine bay pull over put the cap on and I'm good 2 minutes later I'm over heating
stop at the store and grab some distilled water and fill up the radiator. car runs fine after that no
over heating. drive 4 may 5 miles and then park it at my girls house watch tv for about 4 hours then
I go out to start the car. it doesn't start I hear a little high frequency noise coming from the IACV I
pull the connector off and it stops put it back on and it goes again. next morning I check the timing it
was off? I pull the crank pulley off. I line up my cam gears with the pulley off and see that the crank
gear lines up with the indicator on the oil pump.? so my timing is right . move on check the plugs
they are wet I dry them off. move on replace the coil and ignition module still no start. try a different
computer, try different plug wires, still nothing replace coolant temp sensor, new tps, tried different
injectors, I have no check engine light I jumped the service connector and the cel stays on. I hear all
three clicks for the main relay I hear the fuel pump prime. it sounds like it wants to start but doesn't,
my fuel pressure gauge read 40psi. every time I crank it the plugs come out wet with fuel. idk what it
is I'm stumped. the motor has exactly 1378 mi on it still a baby motor. somebody please help. I have
a feeling the IACV is the culprit because of the little sound it makes it's a quite sound but still is
noticeable. wounding i get a check engine light if it was the IACV. also when I crank it the radiator start bubbling and when i release the cap it hisses out? is it suppose get that much pressure just from cranking? idk any suggestions please help sorry long story just wanted to be detailed and include as much info

Can you break that big block of text up so it's more easily readable? I can only get through a couple of lines before I refuse to read any more.

Cliff notes:
Car over heats
Filled radiator but forgot to put the radiator cap on
Car smoked from engine bay so put cap on tight
Over heated again so refilled radiator
Car wouldn't start - Hear high frequency noise coming from IACV - pulled connector off - stops; put back on - returns.
No CEL. Fuel pump primes and fuel pressure good. Timing is right. Plugs dried off. Replaced ECU, plug wires, coil, ICM, ECT sensor, TPS, injectors - still no start.
Motor has 1378 mi
When I cranked it, the radiator started bubbling. After cranking, released cap and it hissed.
------------------------------------------------
Cliff answer:
The head gasket is blown. To verify, do a cylinder leak down test.

compression test came out
cylinder 1 - 180,180
cylinder 2 - 150,150
cylinder 3 - 180,180
cylinder 4 - 180,150
cylinder 1 - 180,180

Re: 1993 Civic DX LS vtec won't start
Cylinder 2 is definitely bad and cylinder 4 may also be bad, but the two tests for cylinder 4 are inconsistent and therefore inconclusive. Doing a leak down test will tell you whether the head gasket is blown.

Autozone will most likely NOT have a leak down tester/ let alone know what it is (at least they dont here). Good luck with it.

dang hopefully harbor freight does. so if I had a bad head gasket the car wont start? even when there's spark and fuel. my radiator smells a little like gas.

Re: 1993 Civic DX LS vtec won't start
The engine won't start due to low compression two cylinders. The low compression is likely caused by a blown head gasket, but you should do a leak down test to verify prior to pulling the head.

Re: 1993 Civic DX LS vtec won't start
I hav similar problem in a way, Iv owned lots of hondas my whole life and hav done minor things but I cant post on the site yet cause its my first day but i need to kno asap about som things.... I bought a 93EJ1 with a LSV and am running a p28 chipped, when i drive it it like laggs bad b4 vtec like 3400rpms then speeds up fine and when i hit vtec i can hear it pop but its not rly feeling strong and then the CEL comes on... wtf so i did the paperclip trick it does a quick flash then long long then short short so its code 22 but the quick flash when i turn the ign is that code 1?? so will a sohc vtec solenoid work and the lagg part rly makes me mad... i changed the oil, seafoamd it and cause somtimes it idles fluctuates i did throttle cleaner which helpd a little. But is it my clutch?? cause its missing the metal plate that goes out side the bell housing, i guss it keeps the clutch cooler or somthing but idk theres lots of snow up here so could the clutch be damaged from being wet?? or should i do a tranny fluid change to c if that helps?? im lost on things so i appreciate the help cause i cant post forums yet.......

A Little Update I pulled my Valve Cover off and the camshaft plates were covered with like a super white milky oil? DAMN blown HG. I've never relized how easy pulling the head off was. Took me about 45 min not bad for my first time
