A little bit of background. I bought the car this past march. The guy I bought it from handed he a stack of paperwork for the car. Included was a receipt of the head being rebuilt at a local and reputable machine shop. He told me the engine in the car is not numbers matching (but I'm not sure how to tell what engine it is). He bought the car as a project with the engine "locked up". The alternator was seized. Replaced that. Engine ran but not well. Replaced distributor and timing. Still ran like crap. Found out it was lower engine issues. Swapped lower engines and had head rebuilt. Drove it from Kansas to California and back and around town. He didn't have any problems.

I buy it. And 200 miles in it starts intermittently dying. At first it was every few days. Now it won't hardly run. The fuel filter was gushing! Replaced that with a lot of Teflon tape stuff. Not leaking. Still wont stay running. Replaced fuel pump last night. Still same thing. No pattern to it. I checked for codes before the fuel filter and after. Nothing. Ran it as long and best I could after replacing the fuel pump and still no codes.

It will die hot. It will die cold. It will die at idle. It will die at 15 mph. It will die on the highway. Sometimes you can put the clutch in and it will restart. Other times you have to pull off to the side of the road and crank and feather the gas. Other times I've had to just wait 5-10 minutes. If it starts "bogging down" like it wants to die and RPMs dip I can put the clutch half in and press heavier on the accel to get the RPMs up to keep it running to keep it creeping down the road.

Been reading posts about distributor faults/coil faults/etc but nothing seems to line up with what I'm suffering from. Thoughts?
