1992 Civic brake pedal sometime goes to floor
I have a 92 Civic that has a bit of a brake problem. This is my girlfriend's car and my dad and I helped her get it and put it back on the road. When we did the brakes we bled them 3 times (in the correct sequence) and they felt great. A few days after my gf got the car the problem started (almost a month ago). What happens is she'll be driving along with the brakes working fine and then one time the pedal has to go almost all the way to the floor for the same braking power as the last time she pressed the brake pedal. Then the next time they go back go normal. Any ideas what it could be? We already ruled out a leak because there are no traces of brake fluid under the car or behind the wheels. Plus, her brake fluid resevoir is full.

reason being is because when the seals begin to wear out in the MC and cannot hold pressure at times, the intermittent pressure lost is one of the symptoms

unless your LOSING fluid either at the wheels or behind the brake pedal
the worn seals inside the MC is the most probable cause

Yes, it's an internal leak within the master cylinder. I've personally experienced this 3 times now (on 3 different cars). It usually begins to act up when it gets hot out.
On one of the cars, I could actually watch the reservoir rise and fall as the pedal was pushed to the floor and let out again.
Good luck...
