00 Civic doesn't feel smooth to drive
Hi I have a 2000 Honda Civic 5 door hatchback European spec, model MB3, D15Z8 engine. Not sure what OBD.
When I am driving my civic on uneven roads, I can hear lots of road noise, the car feels like juddering, shaky or vibrating, it is also a little bit bouncy when going over speedbumps and the worst part is when I hit a pothole, it sounds like like metal hitting ground. My steering wheel won't stay straight, to drive straight, I need to keep it slightly left at like 11 o'clock. The car doesn't make any knocking noises whatsoever.
The car does need some work in the coming weeks but I don't know if these are related to the problem. Here's what needs to be done.
Lower control arms are very rusted and need replacing or cleaning.
Lower control arms bushes are completely rusted and need replacing.
Rear trailing arms are completely rusted and slightly poking out, need replacing.
Front tyres are different make than rear and are heavier. Front have 3mm thread, rear has 1.8mm thread.
Power steering fluid has been leaking in the past but recently topped up, still leaks but only a little bit.
Shifting does not feel smooth at all, I believe the fluid may be low or leaks as every morning, front driver side under the door, few drops of fluid leaks.
Car was serviced last week, no oil leaks so far.
When driving slowly such as in busy traffic, 10-20 mph on second gear car feels bouncy, it is asking to accelerate.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Please read the Rules sticky. Without exception, tech threads require all relevant car information in the first post. Please add this critical information.

Re: 00 Civic doesn't feel smooth to drive
The bouncy feeling is related to your shocks being blown/empty of fluid, I have another car that rides the same for this reason
Essentially you need an entirely new suspension all around.
Good Luck And Farewell!

Your front control arm bushings being shot can cause a lot of wandering like you are describing. Make sure you get an alignment with that and get 4 of the same tyre!!

Thanks, think I will replace all the bushes and get new tyres then see what it's like. Does anyone know how I can identify what is actually leaking? The power steering fluid level hasn't dropped since I topped it up about 2 months ago so I'm thinking it is something else leaking, it's not the oil either.
