Q: what is it worth? Kbb says 2k, which is ridiculous..

I'll have 100k on it within a year but keeping miles off my DC Taco is top of mind.

Default 92-95 D-series Transmission Demand

Is there any value in D-series transmissions anymore? I've got a bunch of them that are taking up space and I really hate to send them to a scrapyard.

Yes/no. Someone will buy them. Plenty of people will buy them just to have a spare.

There's value, but it all depends on the condition.

no value then. you won't know what gears go to what if you have multiple transmission parts lumped together......

you can not cross match gears. it's like bearings, they are mated to a certain journal. swapping out only one gear but not it's mate causes fast wearing and the part to die prematurely.

sounds like you got a "bag" of parts from multiple transmissions and that means next to no value beyond the scrap value.

Very little value. Even 5 years ago I used to get complete transmissions for nothing, and next to nothing. I've never paid more than $40 for one.

scrap them.

if you have any performance shops near you they might possibly want cases, but I highly doubt you'll get a penny from them.

Rare != valuable. Just because you don't see it everywhere, doesn't make it magically worth more than it really is.

The car is '93 Del Sol D15B7 with 250k. It won't start. Prior to this it was working great, a slight erratic hesitation starting for few months but it started every time. I swapped out the fuel pump, the fuel pump relay, the fuel filter. I then towed it to the dealer. Honda's first diagnosis was the coil and the igniter. Those didn't fix it. Second diagnosis they said it was the distributor housing. That didn't fix it.

Then Honda and I agreed that I would pay $350 for a full blown electrical diagnosis. During this diagnosing they swapped in an ECU/ECM. Now after four weeks, they say my problem is a short (that I don't believe they can locate). I will tow it elsewhere. How much if anything of the $350 should I pay Honda for their diagnosis? They have not diagnosed the problem. They have a guess. Thank you.

I have a 1993 Civic EG, I'm swapping in a B16 motor. It's a complete Auto to Manual swap. The car is already being painted and I'm going to put in the motor next week. What's are your thoughts is it work it???

If the body is good then go for it. The auto to manual part adds very little to the swap honestly.

I would gladly pay $5k for that car assuming the interior is immaculate

Since the seller is asking $5k I would try to get him down to $4300

hey guys, I have 2000 Civic DX-VP sedan, I'm a second owner, D16Y7 engine and 4 speed auto trans, no accidents, clean title, 89000 miles, just invested over $3000 (water pump, new radiator, alignment, all belts, all filters, new oil, new brakes, spark plugs, wires, inspected all suspension parts ) smog test passed form the first attempt, has kenwood 6x9s rear and 6.5 component speakers front, has EX cluster with tachometer, all doors, trunk, and cabin except roof and front panel are sound deadened with fat mat, planning to do 25% rear and 50% front ceramic tint. Interior is flawless, no stains, no marks, very clean and great interior (non smokers and no pets). Needs a little bit of polish and maybe touch up paint though.... how much you think I should ask? I'm in Cali

You should ask for $4,200 and you'll probably get offers for $3,500.. which is fair. The car is clean and has low miles so it would make a nice DD. Still not worth much though... it is a 4 door Honda after all.

Default Reasonable Price for Paint Job at Maaco?

I went in for a paint job quote at Maaco today. Personally I prefer chains over local paint shops. I have had bad experiences with car repairs where they mess with the inside of your car to sell you other work. Bigger companies have a reputation and are constantly video monitored like Jiffy Lube.

Anyways, I asked for a quote. I asked him if this was the final price and he said yes. However, I did forget to ask him about doing the inside doors and under the hood. He said it would take 5 days. Not sure how I am going to go to work during this time. What do you think?

Too much? reasonable price? Any bad experiences?

Every Maaco job I've seen has looked like crap.
You always get what you pay for, and even more so when it comes to bodywork.
Also, a smaller business will want to make sure that they take care of their costumers as most of their business comes from client recommendations and word of mouth.
Larger companies tend to care about quantity over quality.
Have you never heard of the huge scam that went on with Jiffy Lube?
Getting a little off track here, but the point is, Maaco is not a good place to get a paint job if you care about the quality.
If you plan on doing all the body work yourself and prepping the car prior to sending it to them to paint, you will get better results but not anything show worthy.
Proper prep and attention to detail is what separates a good paint job from a backyard disaster, and quite frankly production painters don't really care about those things.
