Default "97 Honda Civic parking brake problem - Help appreciated

Hoping someone can help...
Every time it gets cold (freezing) and when the parking brake (hand brake) is applied, the rear wheel or brake cable on the passenger side jams. I'd like to disassemble the hand brake cable and either replace it or manage to grease it or something and/or inspect and determine what is causing this. Could someone please provide a link to schematics of the cable assembly at the rear wheel level where the hand brake cable attaches. A method for replacing the hand brake cable would be appreciated as well.

Many thanks

This is normal, a lot and a lot of cars do this. This is why it is not recommended you don't use your parking break in the winter unless you absolutely must. It might not even be your cable but the actual shoes themselves freezing on. You can try to replace the cables and put all the grease you want but chances are it will happen again at some point. Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Many thanks for your reply. Makes sense that the shoes are jamming and not the cable because the lever inside the car feels as there is no cable attached; no pull. The rear passenger wheel is the only one jamming though. Would you happen to know if there are any blow out diagrams of the rear wheel brake assembly available?

Many thanks again.
