Default XM Radio Button

So I call XM radio today to get 3 months free subscription. They tell me to push the XM button on my dash to get the ID number so I can get my free trial. I push and push, doesn't work. They say they can't help any further, call back if it works.

Ok? So am I doing something wrong? If any of you guys press the XM button (who dont have a subscription) does it come up so you can go to channel zero? Is my unit faulty? If someone could check thier button for me, please let me know. And if I have to press something else before the XM menu comes up please let me know.

Thanks alot.

From what I heard, you need to get the XM equipment installed.

CIVIC EX = XM capable....( NO BRAIN ) once installed you can controll it via your OEM Headunit

CIVIC EX,SI w/ Navi = Has brain for XM & comes with 3 month subscription

Like everybody says u need to have the xm unit installed threw honda.

u need three parts...

The tuner unit it self P/N 08A15-EX5-000
Antenna P/N 08A15-EX5-100b
and the xm attachment 08B15-SNA-100

All these parts total up to 444.00

my suggestion would be to go back to the dealer and ask if they could roll it in to the loan.

or if your sales person said it would have xm in it, see if they will Goodwill it to u.
their was a sales guy at my dealership telling people the car would have xm, and he himself had to pay to have it installed on the customers car.

I think the only ones that come XM EQUIPPED (note the difference from 'ready' or 'capable') are the Navi installed cars, they already have antennas and such installed.
