what are your payment plans on the SI like?
sup guys im a 21 year old smog technician and have been smogging cars for about a year now. i work for my dad who owns a test only station but am only getting experience working there with low pay (pretty much a paid intern) because just about EVERY smog check station requires you to have ONE YEAR experience to get hired. so im going to look for a stable job at a different smog station and hopefully get a pay of around 13-14 dollars an hour. i cant expect to get a salary from my dad because he's already paying my brother a salary and doesn't need two smog techs to man one dyno.. i really REALLY want to get an SI and was wondering what you guys think i should do to get it.. ive never bought a new car and i own a 94 integra which my dad bought for me, and is my first car. what should i do to go about buying an SI? should i get a stable job, sell my integra, then make a down payment of some sort, and make payments on the SI til i pay it off? if so, what is the down payment figure around, on average? how about the payments? do u guys choose how much u wanna pay the dealership a month? or do you have to work that figure out with the dealership? what is the average monthly payment plan like?? i want an SI BAD!!!!!!!! you guys' feedback would be greatly appreciated

Re: what are your payment plans on the SI like? (noob with an RS)
I suggest using a payment calculator on cars.com or Honda.com. You can play with the downpayment amounts, number of months, finance rates, etc..
These are pretty useful but remember they don't usually include tax, tags, registration and other fees so keep that in mind.
Selling your Integra might give a decent downpayment. Also I would suggest you avoid going longer than 48 months, because after you sign the paper work you might feel like it will take forever to pay it off. Don't forget insurance!

Save your money, go to college, smog tech isn't a career....don't buy an SI until you don't have to worry about how much it will be.

Save up for a big downpayment and you wont be paying $400 a month.

My payments would be about 215/month for 72months at 6%. With $7000 down on 20k. Insurance should be around $700/yr. Cheap fun!
