the bigger the wheel, the more rolling resistance and unsprung weight... you will wind up being a little slower on the launch...17 would be the biggest I would go with a Civic...My Si is on 17s...

You can go with a bigger wheel just make sure the tires you choose has the same rolling diameter as the stock set up, or as close as you can get to it. Rims alone does not create rolling resistance. You can have a stock wheel and put a much taller tire on the car and create rolling resistance.
I had a Mustang that from factory came with 16x8 wheels on it, I upgraded the wheels with a staggered wheel combo. I went with 18x10 out back and 18x9 for the front of the car tire size was 275-40-18 and 255-45-18 the whole package looked much bigger all around, but if you actually did the math the aftermarket still had the same rolling diameter as the stock wheels, I could still get the car sideways if I wanted and it effected mileage maybe by 1MPG if that. Just my opinion, I am sure there are others who will disagree, they might even chime in, either way it's your car, do what makes you happy, your car, your money my friend.

I'm thinking I might just get some 15s for it just because the tires are basically brand new and I could use them for the new wheels instead of buying brand new tires

Sounds good, post some pics up and show us how it looks, I'm liking the wheel choice that you showed, if you can get that style in 15's I would jump on it. Good Luck!!!

Really? Those wheels in a 15" wheel on a modern Civic sedan?
I'd rather roll around on the OEM hubcaps personally.

What size would you be running @todd00 that's why I am asking to see what most people roll with on the modern civic remember I am coming from a 90 hatch so 15s look good on those cars anything bigger was whack

These newer cars look good with 17's in my honest opinion, but considering you want to maintain MPG I would stay with the stock size wheel and just swap your tires over. you wont lose mpg and you save money on tires, I think you most likely have 16's, but again your money your car do what will make you happy
