Default Knocking sound from rear tire in 2009 Civic EX

I just bought my Civic used and had no problems with it. Recently, I was driving it and heard this knocking sound coming from the rear while driving it, and when I rolled my window down, that knocking was a chirpy sound. I took it to the Firestone and they told me I had a warped rotor, so I took it in to get that rotor replaced (they actually showed me that my rotor was catching when they spun it). The rotor was replaced, but I'm still hearing that knocking sound, except this time, I only hear it when I'm pushing the brake, and it's very noticeable between 15 - 20 mph. I took it to the mechanic and he said the left rear wheel has a bearing going bad. So when I hear the knocking sound, sure enough, I roll my window down and the other rear wheel makes that chirpy sound, but only when I'm pushing on the brake. Colorado is notorious for potholes after the winter months, so I'm guessing that's the culprit...I don't remember hitting one hard, but not sure if my husband did. Would the bearing cause a thumping noise while pushing the brake? The best I can describe the sound is it sounds like someone is hammering on something outside of the car. What action do I need to take next b/c I've taken this car in twice and it's always something new, and if I can find a military buddy that knows how to fix cars and save me some money, I'd like to take that route.

Thanks!

I don't know about that knocking noise but I definitely experienced that chirping noise. I started troubleshooting with the breaks, rotors, and finally found that it was definitely the wheel bearing that was bad. When they replaced that rotor you should have had them spin it one more time for you to see if it fixed it.

Yeah, it sounds like knocking from the inside, windows up, but when I open the window, I hear a chirping in its place. The guy did say it was the bearing...it's just weird that I only hear it when applying the brakes. I'm not very saavy with vehicles...I kind of learn as I go and know the bare essentials.
