Like the title says, which one should I get? I have an R18 and heres what I want for my car: more hp, but also good gas mileage. My car is a DD and I do not race or intend to race. It is an economy car and I know that! Any comments would be nice

if your not looking to make it a racer do the drop in... it cost about 50 bucks and you'll never have to buy another filter for the life of the car... its washable. most cold air / ram intakes are too but they are prly gonna cost you around 100 or more. you might see 5 hp increase.

i put a k&n drop in on my car it sounds a bit deeper and the throttle response is a bit better. i did it to save on new filters.. where i work we have a dirt/gravel parking lot.

It barely effects the HP. I remember there was someone who posted a dyno with a drop-in that had literally like .25 HP more. It's worth a K&N just so you never have to change the air filter again, just like the guy above me says. If you're looking for a big difference in sound and response, however, get a CAI. Watch out for hydrolock.

And they both help a little bit with gas mileage, but from my own experience they both help about the same amount.

I want something with a lil more power. I am not afraid of hydrolock cuz I live in SoCal. It doesnt rain much over here. Thanx for the help!!!

I would go with the Injen CAI. They do a really good job at tuning in their intakes.

I originally put the K&N dropin in my SI and didnt really notice much maybe alittle bit better throttle response. About a week ago i put in a Fujita sri (i know its not an Injen or cai for that matter) and it made my car sound so much more aggressive. Dont think it really made much of a diff down low up up top it seems to give it a little more power. Overall it sounds great tho.

I had a Drop in aswell in my Si but then I got a Injen KAI. Wow so loud and deep and more horses for ME! But in your situation I would just get the drop in its a nice little fun feature that saves you on replacements! Good luck

That's all the K&N drop in is good for. On the Injen CAI, all the power is from the tuning of the mass air flow sensor section of the tube.

I would do a drop in just so I don't have to worry about the dealer giving me crap about my warranty if I have to take it in for anything.

Have you guys had any warranty issues after adding intakes?

no...the only time a dealerships can void your intake is if you hydrolock your motor.

The "performance" filters MAY offer better performance at the risk of poorer filtration. Since economy is your goal, I would avoid using them. Sure, they are washable, but I have better things to do with my time than wash and oil a filter of questionable value.

K&N filters are hundreds of times better filters then OEM filters man.
