Nope.. I'd rather get it done by the dealer... Just don't have the time to change my own oil anymore. Cleaning it takes up more time than I would like. (A complete car detail for me takes 8 hours to complete. Inside and out. )

I don't mind getting dirty and I don't mind the taking the time, I just don't like disposing of "fluids" like oil/tranny fluid/etc... It's just a big hassle.. If I have to drop the pan or drain oil to fix something, then I'll go ahead and change my own at home.. otherwise it's someone else's problem to dispose of the old oil.

its a piece of cake i think i've got it down to about 15 mins total, maybe i'm just used to it cuz my old civic was the same setup. the only slightly irritating part is cleaning up after taking the filter off but if you put a rag underneath it it's not bad. Plus it give me an excuse to get dirty and spend "quality time" with her lol, and i'm 100% positive that the work was done right

even though im not an SI ownder, its still a pain in the ***.
honda did my first oil change and the filter was on way too tight. i had a filter wrench(oem and a kragen one) and it still couldn't get it off. ended up taking a screwdriver to it to get some leverage. you can imagine what a mess it made.

I change my own, its pretty easy.
I usually get Mobil 1 5 quart container from Wal-Mart for 20 bucks (or you can spend 6 dollars a quart for 5 quarts = $30) and a Mobil 1 filter for about $10.
$30, takes about 30 minutes (if that) in the summer.
The only time I hate changing the oil is in the winter because
A) The oil will drain so slow since its cold and thick
B) You'll freeze your *** off
and
C) I don't have a garage
But otherwise, you should really be changing your own oil. Dealerships have been known to put 5W-20 and other oils in our car even when 5W-30 is the recommended oil. Dealerships FTL.

X2... its not that hard and you don't have to even be a "pro"... it takes a full 15-30 minutes as already mentioned. If you are too busy for that, then damn I guess life is rough.

Hey I didn't say it, I just posted a quote. Don't kill the messanger now.
But isn't it ironic that someone who takes the time to install a CAI, exhaust, SC, Suspension (and a lot else I'm sure) etc... doesn't have time to change their own oil?
You even have time to make posts about installing wiper blades??
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1926421
Come on, even that took at least 30 minutes between the install / picture upload / forum post...
And after doing a quick search, look at the other people who have complained that the dealership put in the wrong oil / wrong filter / did it sloppy etc...
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1391360
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1953422
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1967132
Maybe you are just a trusting person. I don't trust ANYONE with my car. Maybe its paranoia, but threads like the above make me feel that my opinion is justified. You take your chances, I'll take mine. I just seriously doubt that a 30 minute oil change is "wasting" a day off.
No hard feelings Mikey

After doing a million installs over the past 8yrs you grow tired of actually doing things.
The " i put the wrong oil in" really can't happen with me since
1. I either watch them putting it in ( if you look at the picture you're standing there when its being applied)
2. if i go to honda i bring my own Oil and just get charged for labor.
The time wasted on the Wiper blade thing was actually me outside doing something ELSE (forgot what that was) and remembering that El sent me those for free. Since i got them for Free i figured i would do something for everyone here
Even if it was the most basic of basic things.
Never hard feelings.

On the SI, I have a simple method using a 2 Liter bottle (coke, sprite, which ever). Cut off the upper half of the coke bottle, just a little past half way (its used to catch the other excess oil from dripping onto the CV BOOT or where ever), also cut off an indentation (shown on the picture).
Test fit before taking out the Oil filter, If you can place your hand on the oil filter being able to turn it while the oil catcher is in place, then your set but lets say if it is hard trying to turn the filter, then I may suggest you cut more of the Indentation until you can manuver you hands better.
The hardest part is taking out the (OIL CATCHER) once its filled with the OIL ( I usually leave the oil filter inside of it because that too if filled with oil inside. Since I have no pictures of me doing the oil filter change, all I can is descride it.
Well since us SI owners have to take out the Passenger side front rim to manuver easier this is I assume is where the out right hand will be in place, the left hand is usually where the other access is to take out the oil filter, pass the oil pan and there is a subframe where another access to the oil filter. THIS IS WHERE YOU PUT THE OIL CATCHER in and out to manuver easily. Usually what I do is squeeze gently, the oil catcher to the point where it can fit through. Easy said than done right, well i think practice makes everything much easier.

Honestly, considerating the total money I have to spend between the oil, filter, time and headaches, I prefer to take it to the dealership.

Changed the oil in my LX for the first time today. The filter position is absolute crap. It remains full of oil and it gushes out when you remove it. I wish they left it in the back of the block.
