Honda adds second shift: 1,000 employees to build Civics
Seems to follow what I am seeing at my nearby Honda dealers that Civics are selling as fast as they can build them! I guess this is good news for those of us looking to buy a 2012 Civic!

Honda to add 1,000 jobs at Indiana plant
Dayton Business Journal - by DBJ Staff
Date: Tuesday, May 31, 2011
Honda Motor Co. plans to add about 1,000 new jobs to its plant in Greensburg, Ind.
Anita Sipes, corporate communications manager at the plant, said the company does not have a firm date for when the jobs will come online, but it likely will be later this year.
The new employees will operate on a second shift. The plant makes the Honda Civic and Honda Civic GX natural gas model.
“Our intention when we opened the plant (in 2008) was to start a second shift right away,” Sipes said. “The recession put that on hold, but things are improving in the auto industry.”
Sipes said wages for the new production jobs average $15.05 per hour.
The plant does not need a physical expansion because it already is equipped for a second shift, she said.
Greensburg is located about two hours west of Dayton.
Honda, which has its North American production headquarters in Marysville, has 2,400 workers at its Anna engine plant, located north of Dayton, and 225 employees in Troy at a consolidation facility.
Increased Honda production would be good news for the Dayton region, which is home to many auto-related companies. Honda purchased more than $17.5 billion in parts and materials from suppliers last year.
