I thought they were going to use the earthdreams turbo engines, or are they rebadging the turbo engines as k20. That would be confusing since the k20s are SOHC and I believe the new engine design is DOHC, right?

K20 has always been DOHC, it came in the 06-11 Si, 02-06 RSX-S, and others.

Ok got me on that, google fucked up on that info somewhere. But why name a new engine design after the last generation engine engine code?

LOL do B16, D16, B20, etc. engines ring a bell? Honda has a track record of doing this for decades man... Adding a turbo doesn't mean it's a new design.

Direct injection is a pretty big 'redesign' to the current offerings. It's also said that its supposed to have pretty instant power with -0- turbo lag. We will see in the near future...

My question is what type of internals will it have? If its coming with forged rods, the aftermarket will have a hayday with this car.

B16 and D16 are two different types of engines. If adding a turbo to and engine from the factory than why did they need to build a k23 JUST TO ADD TURBO when they could've thrown a turbo on the k20a/k24a itself.

My thoughts as well, but we're not going to here anything until someone tears one down.

B16/18 is DOHC, D15/16 is SOHC, but they are the same size and mount in the same place.
K20/24 is DOHC. B/D series is no more. K20t is a K engine 2.0 litres with turbo. A K23/24t would be 2.3 or 2.4 litres.

The Type R motor is based off the same k24 thats been used in the 13 accords and now the new CRV. It is only a K series in name only, meaning it shares little to no resemblance to the K series used for the past 10 years. The block shares similarities but the heads are completely re-worked swapping the direction of the Intake and Exhaust flow and implementing the direct injection system. The exhausts now face the front of the car like the old B and D series motors, with intake near the firewall. The new Type R motor is actually called the K20C1.

Its getting a turbo'd engine, but I don't think its the one that will come with 280hp.

edit: I know it says it will be a detuned setup of the civic type r it could be one of the other turbo'd engines.

And the Civic R was coming to the US too. Ha...I'll believe it when I see it.

On another note, the hatch is coming to the US. Will we get an Si or R version, no one knows.
Honda to import Euro market Civic hatch to America

The R engine coming to the US has been confirmed...but what hasn't been confirmed is what chassis will be seeing it.

Another source said that Acura will be getting that beastly motor, but as stated the chassis is unconfirmed... Please let them bring back another integra/rsx.

no confirmation on that either... and it's just a rumor at best!

CRZ might be getting a variant of the K20T (earthdream wtv you want to call it's a K20T for me lol) but nothing is for sure yet.

Si still not much more news then what was shared earlier. Hoping to see something soon!

Evidently, Honda makes a big announcement tomorrow afternoon at the New York Auto Show.

Here are my guesses: Hatchback is confirming to come to the US and/or the S660 is coming to the US

I hope it's a hatchback but won't be surprised if it isn't... on the s660 it's pretty cool and interesting but it's not what we want right now!

We need a Type-R and replacement for the S2K!

Honda retweeted me and said that the R coming to the US is not an April Fools Day joke.

Thank you Honda!
