2012 Civic Si Clutch Issues
So this is more of a tech thread but the civic forum for 2012s is kinda dead, anyhow...
My car is making a really bad whining noise when I release the clutch in first. It does it like 1 out of 5 times. I'm pretty sure its the input shaft bearing based on my research.
I brought it to Honda to diagnose and they said the didn't hear the sound but decided to grease the rod in the clutch master cylinder anyway.
So now the car still makes the original noise plus it doesn't grab like it used to. The engagement point seems to have also changed.
So I'm wondering, did they not bleed the clutch or something after greasing the CMC?
Whatever they did made 1 problem into 2.

Re: 2012 Civic Si Clutch Issues
I doubt they would burn out the clutch test driving it once, even if they dropped the clutch a couple times it should be okay. Probably did that about 100 times in my old civic and the clutch lasted. Now that I'm old I haven't done it once in this car.
I almost thinking they just screwed up the adjustment when they lubbed the rod. I bet they pulled it out and screwed something up.
I'm gonna try and bring it back tomorrow and see what they say.

Re: 2012 Civic Si Clutch Issues
So I never got a chance to bring the car in over the weekend but I have an appointment Monday.
Oddly enough I asked the guy on the phone if they would accept a video of the issue and he said by all means.
I'm going to create one soon and post a link to follow.

Lol I almost typed anyway instead.
Anyway, I was thinking of adding some subliminal messages so even if they don't fix my car I'll get back at them by making them drink coke or smoke cigarettes.

Re: 2012 Civic Si Clutch Issues
I never created a video because when I went to try the car wasn't making the noise, go figure. I think it has something to do with the weather warming up again.
Brought it to the dealership anyway and they heard the noise. It was diagnosed as a bad throw out bearing which they're replacing under warranty.
Should I be pushing for a new clutch? I read a few threads about how a bad TOB will wear the clutch. I'm assuming they will check for significant wear when they pull everything apart.
