I have a 2009 Honda Civic Si with under 50k on it. I'm having an issue when I cold start the car. The car idles at cold start around 2grand and once warmed up drops to around 1grand. The issue is when I start driving it, if I give it a good amount of gas it hesitates/lags for a sec and goes normal does it again. But this only happening when the car is started cold and if I drive slow and get to 3rd or 4th gear it doesn't happen also. Once the car temp warms up the issue goes away. Anyone have any idea's or suggestions? I'm a little confused.

Same here. '07 Si with 139K miles on it. Always did it.
It warms up pretty quick so it never bothered me.

Seems normal to me but I don't really have that issue that much anymore.

What I do is I wait about a minute once I start it and then I start driving off. I don't go above 3.5k rpms either. Usually within 4-5 minutes the car is warmed up. I don't ever have any issue regarding lag/bogging/hesitation.

It has to do with the fuel enrichment during cold weather driving. It is not a concern. Modulate your pedal pressures and drive normally until the car is at operating temperature.

Wait for it to warm up, this is normal. Mine also bucks and hesitates slightly when i try to drive cold, also normal.

Its very normal . I have an 09 si myself they always act funny when cold. Just warm it up alittle before driving .

Avoid VTEC until you have at least three bars on the temp gauge because the computer won't allow that until it's warmed up a little.

Ah, the cold bucking. My favorite next to the oil consumption, rev hang, crappy paint, broken sun visors, crappy A/C, and rear toe issues.

Mine does this as well. 2006 Si w/ approx 60k on the clock. Not a big deal though, as it warms up quickly.
