06 Civic EX Sedan- Left front clunk after power steering pump replacement
Long time lurker, first time poster here. I'll get straight to the point...
SYMPTOMS: Clunk coming from left front (driver side) when hitting bumps on the road, most noticeable at low speeds (i.e. pulling out of a driveway and dipping over curb). Sound occurs only when left front tire is impacted.
HISTORY: Problem occured right after I changed my power steering pump. The only thing significant that was loosened was the right side torque rod, #6 in the following diagram: ENGINE MOUNTS (2.0L) (MT). Fits: Honda | Sons Honda
As soon as the car was lowered I drove off and heard the rucus non-stop
ATTEMPTED REMEDIES AFTER FIRST OCCURENCE: Changed out power steering rack(unrelated reason), changed out front shocks and strut mounts. I've inspected both sides for any blown sway bar endlinks and/any worn out bushings and found no visible problems.
QUESTIONS: What could cause the clunk when all I did was a simple power steering pump replacement? It was RIGHT AFTER I lowered the car. The only possible part I can think it could be was something related to when I loosed the torque rod. Also, what component could have failed when weight is removed from it (i.e. when lifted).
