Weird Electrical Problem

Weird Electrical Problem
OK guys and gals, I am stumped...
I have a 2008 Civic Coupe that is experiencing a strange problem involving the dome lights. With the switch in the OFF position, they are off (which is good.) However, with the switch in the DOOR position, when I open the door, the lights come on, when I close the door and start the car, they fade out and go off. When I turn the car off and the door is closed, they stay off. Now here's the weird part -- when I pull the key out of the ignition they go on and STAY on. I found out the hard way with a dead battery. What would cause the dome lights to come on when the key is pulled from the ignition???
I need to add that I pulled and tested the door switch and it is working fine.

Re: Weird Electrical Problem
Sounds like an issue with the Multiplex Integrated Control Unit (MICU), which is integrated into the under-dash fuse/relay box.
Normally, if you do not open any door after you remove the key from the ignition switch, the light(s) fades out in about 30 seconds.
If you leave any door open without the key in the ignition switch, the ceiling light(s) should go off after 3 minutes.

Thanks tech... So, yeah, I just checked it again. If I pull the key the lights immediately come on but they do eventually go out. It takes just over a minute. Does that sound too long? I can exit the car, close the door, and the lights again go out after about a minute. They also go out immediately if I lock the car with the key fob.
I guess the dead battery was just a coincidence and I was looking for a solution...
It's funny, I've had this car since I bought it brand new in 2008 and I never noticed this before...

Although it is written that if you do not open any door after you remove the key from the ignition switch, the light(s) fades out in about 30 seconds, it is possible in reality the timing may differ.

Re: Weird Electrical Problem
Does the car come with electric locks controlled by the key? When I lock my doors on my Si with the key aster I am out of the car, the lights go out immediately.
