i would stay with 5w20. only difference is the winter rating so the 5w20 is thicker during the cold. so only startups and what not. besides that when they are both warm they are both 20 weight

^^
This, without knowing your mileage, driving style/habits and geographical location, stick with the recommend oil.

Temp here in the winter can be around -4.... F to -22 F and colder , yesterday it was -24 F.....Regina , Canada. I was thinking i could benefit in the wint er changing to 0w20 without damage to the engine...civic has 65000 miles, always use syntec

That graph is wrong cause the 02-05 Civic Si started using 5w20 but then switched to the 5w30 due to galling on the cams

In that case, there will be no harm in using the 0w-20, I would myself. I also am a fan of full synthetics, but that's another whole different discussion

I've always said if you live in a place where it gets cold then 0w20 (or whatever oil weight your running) is always better than 5w or 10w. There are absolutely no negatives. You want the oil to start thinning as fast as possible once the motor is turned over. Remember, most engine wear occurs during startup.
