Default Stuck Oil Pan Drain Plug- where to get new Pan or fix?

So the drain plug in my '96 Civic Coupe EX is stuck, and 2 places have said I need a new oil pan. Where can I get one without paying $300 for an OEM? Are the $60 ones on Ebay any good? Thanks guys...bummed about paying $500 just to be able to change my oil

Me personally. I wouldn't touch ebay with a 10-foot pole and a bio-chemical suit.

How exactly did this bolt get stuck? They're only supposed to be hand-tightened.

I had the same issue on an Integra I use to own. The previous idiot....COUGH.... owner, crossthreaded the drain plug hole and had a universal stopper in there. Here are the options....

1. A universal stopper - Dont do this!!!
2. A self taping universal drain plug - Again, Dont do this!!!!
2. Retap the Hole and use an oversize plug - This may be more annoying then its worth. Up to you.
3. Junkyard oil pan - Good option, your gonna have to pull it..... Its the junkyard experience
4. Brand new - Head over to www.RockAuto.com to get an oil pan. For your car... 1996 HONDA CIVIC EX 1.6L 1590cc L4 MFI [D16Y8] : Engine : Oil Pan Price Core Total
ATP Part # 103066 {Steel #11200P2J000}

$66.89 $0.00 $66.89

Ive sworn by RA for years now when going OEM is out of the realm of being affordable......Ooh and don't forget a new gasket

Thanks, that RockAuto oil pan looks just like ones they sell on Ebay. Is it worth the chance? Honestly, it seems like it's an aluminum bowl, not exactly the most high-tech part out there.

Has anyone used a rubber temporary plug? The guy at Oil Changers suggested it, sounds like a reasonable option.

When my bolt was stripped i went to Autozone and bought a stripped bolt remover kit for like 10 bucks and returned it when i was done, if thats not the case u can probably pick up a used oil pan of craigslist or someshit for like 40-60 bucks

Yeah back in the day I tried one of those rubber plugs that you turn and it compresses to seal the hole. Works in theory but plan to drip oil everywhere you go. I stand by just replacing the pan.
