finally got off my *** & installed my HID kits.

my buddy @ work Eric is a Honda tech so i figured it'd be best to have him on hand for the endless TOOLS & of course the knowledge of this brand new car on the market.

here's the pics w/ a couple comments thrown in for good measure. feel free to comment or hate or be indifferent. opinions...every1's got one. no worries.


kits installed

- 9006 6000K low beams
- H11 6000K foglights
- HELLA ballasts (4)
- NO zipties, NO electrical tape or other ghetto means of fabrication. :D :D :D

1.5 hours of work & its complete. the only thing left to figure out (on Eric's part) is how to rewire or deal with existing setup... to make the headlights completely independent of the foglights. reason being b/c if i was to say flash my high-beams at someone the foglights would go off and turn on repeatedly. that = BAAAD in the HID world. also, same goes for if i just flick on the high beams... foglights turn off. finally, during the day when NO lights are on, if i needed to use the high beams, the HEADLIGHTS would come on as well.

long story short, i need them to be independent of each other & have the power to cut or allow power to them at any time.

Looking good man. One question, are those the factory fog lights or the ebay version? Reason i ask is because i was wondering if they knock offs used different size bulbs or not because I too am about to do the same thing.

that setup looks good, but ive chosen 5000k for the lowbeams...this saturday will get mine...
im with original****ster, customlightz is way to much money right now, ill have to wait a few months.....this setup will work in the meantime...
why did you remove the bumper beam?
ive installed the foglights already and didnt look so crumped to work with it...

lol thanks for the comments so far. i should have expected a couple remarks about "blinding" other cars. im happy to report NO one has lifted their "high beam" finger to me on the roads thus far... i see the hotspots u talk of but i dont have the REAL money for an actual TSX or otherwise retro. so this will do.

on my old '01 Civic i had 2 or 3 HID setups & i never really liked one of them as much as this set.

as for the question of what fog setup i have... it is 100% Honda genuine. bought at my job, installed at my job. i recommend them highly. high quality glass. :D

lastly, the alum. crash beam was removed only so it was easier to get at some of the bolts holding the headlight in. it was like 4 bolts to remove & re-install it. no biggie. made things MUUCH easier tho

really nice i like the color tempt.... just wanted to know few questiosn, 1)in the past i thought hid over 10000k was illegal but as it turns out any hid set up is illegal is it not?

2)fog light hid is defo illegal right? (why do fog hid ? )

3) whats the real diffrense to choosing the best set up for headlights visablity

(chepo currrent aftermarket projectors) oem headlights with auto zone expensive bulbs hid over any headlight Or customlightz.com retro thingy???

ANY HID kit that has pure blue or pure yellow is illegal, has been for a few years and will be.

Yes, hids fogs is illegal and without a projector it will blind the heck out of you since the reflector based fog assembly is poorly done...

Customlightz will always beat the pnp kits, aftermarket projectors w/autozone bulbs or hid's BY FAR...

One more tip...
if u higher on the K temperature, you will sacrifice output for color... So anything above 5,000K is a waste of money...specially on a pnp kit setup. However, if you're going for the looks then a pnp kit is not so bad

it looks really nice dude.. if that were me i would have retrofitted tsx projectors then hid since it looks a lot better. and i've never seen hid fogs b4 xcept on an is300 but those were **** yellow

thanks Striker_1818 you made it more clear now i feel that i have a better understanding to it. Mainly i just want to inprove my visablity on the road so no blue/purple for me but rather a white color (5k to 6k?)

now on question Answer 2 i didnt get it? do you mean that aftermarket projector + hid kit is the best setup? or which one is the best one?
because i like the way my aftermarket projectors look

since you already have those, you might as well get those projectors out of there bc even if you put hid's in them you will have hotspots and that's a no-no...
I'd recommend swapping those projectors for some true hid projectors such as tsx/s2000
The best output would be from a philips or osram bulb rated at 4,100(85122) or 4,250K philips bulb (85122+)
Beyond 5,000K you'll lose output.
Now the beauty about projectors is that they control the high intensity discharge from the hid bulb which makes your hid's be usable at its 100% to your benefit rather than throw light everywhere with little to show for...

first i was like i re read it and for what i think your saying is my projectors are crap due to the china making it bad? so my replacement would be customlightz as tsx/s2000 thats just the projectors aiming beam being right? then from there those projectors since they are build right the can control the heat of hid correct? but i still dont get the part about the philips or osram bulbs ?

the two projectors on the right is what you want, TSX HID projectors.
the stock projectors that come w/your headlights are halogen projectors. Although, some projectors can handle the intensity of HID's, some can't...
You can swap projectors yourself without customlighz doing anything but then again if you want to put projectors into your stock housing then customlightz can make your stuff look OEM
BTW: halogen bulbs ran hotter than HID bulbs. But HID bulbs have 3X the intensity as halogen bulbs...

thank you again, darn customlightz.com they dont do aftermarket projectors ,

basicly my aftermarket contains the halogen lense which is the only reason why its bad , now if i can send my aftermarket projectors to customlightz and they change the lense then from there its a proper projector Then i can do hid right?

just open up the headlights...
unscrew the halogen projectors, take them out, bolt your tsx projectors in, seal the headlight and aim the projectors with the adjustment nuts found on the back of the headlight and you're done...

You guys really should get a projector retrofit or those little glare killer thingies. I passed an FA1 that had HIDs tonight and the glare was a bit annoying. Could've been the headache I already had though....
