Default Powder coating stock Si wheels

I was thinking about getting it done black on mine. Has anyone done this? What did it cost? How did it turn out?

hey michael...weren't those rattle canned? with some clear coat? isnt powder coating using heat?

I was thinking about doing this can i get the nhbp paint form honda then use it to powder coat the wheels to match or just go flat black ?

I dont think you can just use paint to powdercoat wheels ... although I guess you could get them profesionally sprayed in NHBP.

i think that looks really clean. any estimate on about how much that costs and where to get it done?

Yea that looks pretty clean...I would be willing to run with those for a while...Cause I want to do the s-tech suspension before I purchase new wheels.

Theres a place around here (New Jersey) that chages 80 a wheel.

Ok my boy at honda knows a place where I can get my wheels done for about 50 a wheel. But where can i find rims that will fit to roll on for a few days while they have my wheels

One thing to watch for is alloy weakening after being powder coated. There are multiple incidents where this happened to STi owners.

No. Powder coating is exactly what it sounds like...coating a part with colored powder. The powder is then heated to literally melt it over the part, which when cooled, hardens like a second skin. It's much more durable than auto or spray paint and I recommend it to anyone wanting to paint their wheels for the long-haul.

I think I know who you're talking about. A couple months ago, I was talking to a guy in Jersey who was going to charge me $200 for a set of 4 18" HFP wheels. If I hadn't planned to do them myself, I would still drop them off and have him do them. But the price is so good, I might still do it.

Lemme go through my email and see if I can find the guy's name and website. He was a really nice dude.
