Default Input on different wheel Size/Width/Offset Combos?

Ok well I searched the "Wheel and Tire Upgrades Thread" and took a look at the "Wheel Fitment Recipe - wheel offsets that work" thread on 8thcivic and didn't see any of the sizes that the two wheels I am interested in are made in.

So I was hoping some of you guys could point me in the right direction or give me some input on the different option I am considering.

I don't really want to mention what wheels they are but the sizes are as follows:

Option 1
17" x 7.5" with an ET (or offset) of 48mm

with a

225/45/17 Tire most likely

Option 2

17" x 7.5" with an ET (or offset) of 45mm

with again a

225/45/17 Tire most likely

Option 3

17" x 8" with an ET (or offset) of 40mm

with again a

225 or possibly 235/45/17 Tire most likely

Let me know which option you think may work the best, or if you think these sizes and offsets won't work well at all.

I've gotta believe atleast one of the 7.5" setups would work well without rubbing but I haven't seen anyone mention they are running wheels with those specs yet.

I am riding on stock suspension for now but eventually do plan on lowering the car and eliminating the tire gap.

*** UPDATE ****

I have come across a really great deal on one of the two wheels I was considering in 18 x 7.5 w/ a 45mm offset and after looking at pics of 18's vs. 17's I am strongly considering them.

OPTION 4

18" x 7.5" with an offset of 45mm

with most likely a 225/40/18 size tire

I just got some 18x8 rims on 225 40's with the HFP suspension..looks and rides good as hell. Ride is a bit rougher but it feels tighter and handles better. Youll have to compromise somewhere. Check out some of the of the pics different members have of rims/ drop setups. Cool thing about this car is that its the **** stock.

Thanks for your input man. So what offset are you riding on with 18" x 8"?

The problem you have is/will be your drop.

With most of the combos u posted up I was rolling with comptech springs with ZERO rubbing and it was noted as a 1.0/1.2 drop which was as close as you should be without being "too dropped"

Get feedback from people with the suspension you decide FIRST.... then focus on the rim fitments they have had.

Thanks for your input Mike. I figure you probably have more experience with different wheels setups on the Si than anyone so far.

You made a good point in deciding on suspension first and then wheels, its just tough finding people with different setups along the lines of what I am interested in. I was initially thinking of doing suspension first but then I kind of started to lean towards wheels because they wouldn't void my warranty. Or atleast if they did, I could more easily make a swap back to my stock wheels than swapping springs or coilovers out for stock struts if necessary.

So let me get this right, you think most of the wheel specs I have listed above would work fine with a more subtle spring drop like your Comptech setup, but with a more extreme drop I may run into rubbing issues?

I initially thought I wanted coilovers for my FG but given that it is Daily Driven I am now leaning towards the more practical drop/ride of springs or GC sleeved coilovers.

Given say a spring drop on something like TEIN S-techs, Eibach Sportlines, Comptech Springs (if I could even find them), or Ground Control sleeved coilovers (which are height adjustable).

Which 17" wheel spec do you guys think might work best?

I was considering 18's but like I said the car is daily driven and I don't think they are the most practical DD wheel.

you can look dope on 18's.

or just be ballin out on 17's..

if you got 17's. go atleast w/ a 225..

i got 235's and the meaty-ness looks bad ***.

Thanks for the advice man.

I know 18's would look hot, but I also know they wouldn't ride as well as 17's and the wheels and tires would cost more and weigh more, so thats whats kind of holding me back from 18's.

What size are your ce28's?

I was thinking I would go with a 225 for the 7.5" wheels the 215 was just what Tire Rack and other sites like them happened to recommend for some reason.

BTW, what kind of springs did you end up going with? Comptechs? If so how do you like them (are they daily drivable) and where did you find them?

im 17 x 7.5 +45 offset 235/45/17 Azenis w/ dem Comptech springs

215's are real thin. i didnt really notice it till i took the stocker off.

im running 215/45 azenis on the stocker for autoX and i think it was a mistake. i should have went w/ 225's

Cool, Yeah I think thats the wheel spec I am shooting for as of now, it seems to be a good mix of style and practicality.

If you don't mind me asking where did you find the Comptech Springs?

I have been told that the 17 x 7.5 with a 48mm offset would look like crap and rub.

Does anyone have any input on that?

I deleted the 18" wheels because I have pretty much decided I want to go with a 17" wheel, or atleast I think I have for now.

Wow...Thanks a lot for that Mike, that helps out a lot!

I just had a couple other questions.

1. How did you like the look or fitment of the Time Attacks? I am considering a wheel withe a completely different loom but the same specs.

2. I didn't know you got coilovers. How do you like the Megans? I know what you mean about the occasional bottoming out or rubbing depending on height or dampening setting, I had coilovers on my daily driven GSR.

Hey thanks man for the input, I have always admired your FG, I love the old school wheels, I had no idea they were staggered though and 8.5's in the back, damn!

Do you by chance have any more pics of the car with the roof rack and/or the wheels? I actually work at a bike shop and ride all the time so I was considering picking up a rack, too bad Thule doesnt make one.

^^^ Thanks a lot for the pics man! I really like what you have done with your car.

What is it dropped on?

And btw what kind of riding do you do?

Since I don't think I am gonna go that low even if I go with coilovers since the car is daily driven, now I just have to decide if I want to go with 17's or 18's.

For some reason now that I am looking at more and more pics I am leaning towards 18's now.

Back to considering a 18 x 7.5 with a 45mm offset and a 225/40/18...hmmm...what to do?

I am running 17x7.5's with a 40 offset. Front tires are 235/45-17, rears are 225/45-17. Wheels are flush with fenders, have minor rubbing in the front but only in turns under a lot of load.... think high speed sweepers. Oh i am also dropped on S-Techs, and its a FA5.

+48 would look more flush with the fender, correct? Would I need spacers for these?

Thanks!
