The other day my dog and I were riding in my 06 Civic EX-L. I knew he was chewing on something under the passenger's seat, but we were on the highway and I couldn't reach him...then the airbag light came on on the dash. When we reached our destination, I discovered he chewed clean through and ripped out a 6" section of the airbag harness. The Honda dealership told me I need to replace the passenger's side airbag and probably the SRS unit as well.

Can I splice the airbag harness instead of getting an all new airbag? The quote I got from the shop at the dealership is vastly different from that of my friendly local repair shop and it makes me nervous the local shop is (I think) planning to try and splice it. On the other hand, the Honda shop is notorious for pricing on the very high end and I'd rather support the local shop. I just want the airbag to function properly for my passenger's sake if I happen to get in an accident.
