06 Civic Ex Coupe
Hey HT!
Updates: Brake & Foglight threads created/linked. Photos added.
Short-term focus is in blue. For cost, severity, or available-time reasons. Most likely cost though.

New guy here... I have an 06 civic ex coupe... and a couple of things to cover! I'll go to the specific forum sections (paint, suspension, brakes, etc.) but... your .02 would be super helpful given we all have roughly the same car. I'll link related threads. Also use this as a general 'build thread' and throw in some photos. I'll update this thread to add/remove items note what has been updated up top. Topics bolded. As long as mods permit, I think this would be a pretty effective use of space. Looking to tastefully mod it, mainly for performance.
1. Lights- Meager foglight thread here...but here's a quick overview of my issue & what I want to do:
a. As above, bought car new late '05. Somehow, late last year ('10) my headlights had become fairly fogged... took it in to one of my friends at a bodyshop and he said they had been chemically warped. So they melted. Yay. Got new OEM headlights, swapped em out- no issues since. I'm definitely not bitter. Much.
b. Foglights. Looking into them, .02 on what size/brand/heat to get? Stock bumper and my mentioned lack of honda-work experience... can anyone recommend a how-to?
2. Clutch- I'll link to my transmission thread post but...here's the quick overview of my issue:
I've loaned the car to some family from time to time and as of recent (say past 6mo) I've noticed that sometimes there is grinding/difficulty going into second, sometimes into reverse. Sounds to me like when my cousin had the car he might've stripped the gears a bit. Can anyone verify? Next step, what would be a good fix/upgrade for this?
3. Brakes - See thread here... but here's a quick overview of what I want to do:
Brakes need to be swapped (regardless of need, I want to) so I'm looking into some cross-drilled rotors and ceramics. Any opinions, recommendations or warnings?
4. General. Like the other sections, I'll link to my threads elsewhere on the site, but here's an overview:
a. Short-throw shift. Brand recommendations?
b. Suspension/Lowering - Brand recommendations?
c. CAI - yes/no & why?
d. Exhaust - Brand recommendations?
e. Sway bar- Brand recommendations?
f. General Maintenance: What do I need to be looking at around ~50,000mi? Timing belt? Cooling system?
So. Big list of random goodies, like I said I will update as things happen. I'm not home so all I've got is phone pictures for now... when I get home tomorrow I'll shoot some high res. All stock, so nothing too impressive anyway.

you really need to search before posting a huge list of questions. all of your questions have been answered except maybe your clutch problem
1.
b. go oem....aftermarket and cheaper fogs dont throw light as far as oem's do. as for color, go with whatever you like.
2. i doubt he stripped the gears. i think your car is fine. try to get use to the clutch....if its not bearable than take it in and get it looked at
3. this is a matter of preference. upgrade to stainless steel lines, fluids (ATE), and find a rotor/brake combination that fits your driving style. i had ATE brake fluid, and hawk hp+ on oem rotor
4. they are all the same pretty much. short shifter was one of the first things i did to my car. i went with the comptech one but you can go with whatever is out. twm, comptech, corsport
b. Suspension/Lowering - Brand recommendations?: decide if you want coilovers or just a strut/spring combination. i had bc n+ coilovers and then koni yellows with comptech springs
c. CAI - yes/no & why? seach. i had injen but you can buy aem, fujita, or whatever. i bought only for the increase in mpg's not for whatever horsepower gain i got, if any.
d. Exhaust - Brand recommendations? search
e. Sway bar- Brand recommendations? search. i had progress but i think eibach and cusco now have products out
f. General Maintenance: What do I need to be looking at around ~50,000mi? Timing belt? Cooling system? there is no major service interval at 50k. at 45k you should of done oil/filter and transmission fluid change. at 60k you do oil/filter, transmission, and replace your cabin and air filter. you have no timing belt. cooling system fluid gets replaced at 90k along with spark plugs, thermostat if you feel like it, and any other parts that look worn down
